00:00 I will finally share my story the way that it should be shared.
00:04 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the biggest
00:08 bombshells Gypsy Rose Blanchard dropped in her lifetime tell-all.
00:12 I've made mistakes in my life. I've made bad choices.
00:15 Number 10. Meeting and marrying her now-husband Ryan Anderson.
00:20 Gypsy Rose claims that hundreds of men wrote to her during her incarceration,
00:24 with Louisiana middle school teacher Ryan Anderson standing out.
00:28 The thing that stuck out the most about Ryan's letter is not only how genuine it came across,
00:35 but also how like, how funny he is.
00:40 They started corresponding in 2020, and their connection escalated rapidly,
00:45 culminating in a clandestine prison proposal during their third meeting.
00:48 They got married on July 21st, 2022, in the prison where Gypsy was serving time.
00:54 I was sitting across from her and I looked at her, I just knew.
00:57 You know, it's one of those things you know.
00:58 And we had something special, we had that chemistry, and I asked her to marry me.
01:04 No guests were in attendance, but the couple plans on having a larger celebration now that
01:09 she's been released. The honeymoon period reportedly ended quickly, and there were
01:13 considerations of an annulment shortly after. However, as of now, the couple may be on the
01:19 path to a lasting relationship.
01:21 On my way to get some cupcakes for our Friday visit. I'm excited.
01:25 Can't be too much to prison, so it's gotta be simple, but I am trying to make this day
01:30 as special as I possibly can for Gypsy.
01:32 Number 9. Gypsy's Best Memory
01:34 Much of Gypsy Rose's story is a mix of shock and heartbreak. One particularly devastating
01:40 bombshell is that she recalls her first day in prison as a quote "good memory."
01:45 The best memory that I have in my entire life is the day that I got to prison.
01:52 Having lived under her mother's control her entire life, Gypsy saw her sentence as a taste
01:57 of freedom. It offered an opportunity to form connections and take the steps towards self
02:02 discovery that she had been denied for such a long time.
02:04 And I got to go out to the picnic tables, and I'm like, I'm free. I'm free to have
02:13 friends, I'm free to do what I want.
02:16 Yet it's important to note that she's also voiced remorse for her role in her mother's
02:20 death, once confessing to People, quote, "I'm not proud of what I did. I regret it
02:25 every single day."
02:26 And to this day, I can't get that out of my head.
02:30 Number 8. Dee Dee's History
02:33 Today, it's recognized that Claudine "Dee Dee" Blanchard may have had a factitious
02:37 disorder imposed on another, also known as Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.
02:42 When Dee Dee was growing up, she had like a heart murmur, and my mom kept her from
02:49 a lot of stuff, you know, she wouldn't be able to go play outside. And then I'm
02:54 thinking, well, maybe that's part of where Dee Dee had got that, because she was the
02:59 sick kid.
03:00 According to her brother, Evans Petrie, Dee Dee, who he claims was favored by their
03:04 mother, suffered from heart complications as a child and was restricted from engaging
03:08 in the same activities as other children.
03:11 Some family members even think she might have been involved in her mom's death,
03:14 and that she tried to poison her stepmom.
03:17 My grandfather got married to Laura Mae. Dee Dee was very upset about that happening.
03:24 She felt like her grandmother was being replaced by this woman that she probably hated.
03:29 Dee Dee also seemingly misled Gypsy's father about her true age when they met,
03:33 and later gave her daughter a false image of her dad.
03:36 You know, we were only dating three months when Dee Dee told me she was pregnant.
03:40 I was 17 years old, and I think she told me she was 21. She was actually 23.
03:46 Number 7. Gypsy Alleges Further Mistreatment From Her Grandfather
03:51 As per the docuseries, when Gypsy was around 9 years old, she stayed with her grandfather
03:56 and his wife while her mother recovered in hospital from a car accident.
03:59 Gypsy alleges that during this time, she was sexually assaulted.
04:03 But I had a pretty close bond with my grandpa. Then one day, it just seemed to change.
04:10 However, her grandfather, Claude Petrie, countered her claims,
04:14 stating that since she was around 4 years old, she had been initiating inappropriate
04:18 behavior towards him, which he had to fend off.
04:21 That just like confirms that like I want nothing to do with him.
04:24 Gypsy confessed that it took her about a decade to tell her mom what had happened.
04:28 Shockingly, her mom revealed that she went through something similar with him when she was young too.
04:33 I finally started to tell my mom a little bit, but she started to cry and blame herself.
04:40 So I just clammed up and nobody ever knew.
04:44 Number 6. How Dee Dee Fabricated Ailments
04:48 Dee Dee manipulated Gypsy Rose from a young age, fabricating illnesses and
04:52 exploiting the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for lack of medical records.
04:56 Dee Dee didn't have the medical records.
04:58 She said they're gone because it was chaos down in New Orleans right after Katrina.
05:06 Falsely claiming serious conditions, Dee Dee's deception lacked evidence.
05:10 Even doctors found no proof of the mentioned illnesses.
05:13 From a very young age, my mother had claimed that I had seizure disorders, hearing impairment.
05:20 I was forced to use a wheelchair.
05:24 She also altered her daughter's appearance, attributing changes to medication.
05:28 Driven by fear and a longing for her mother's love, Gypsy Rose stayed silent.
05:33 Dee Dee's manipulative cycle, alternating between extreme affection and punishment,
05:38 coerced compliance for love and rewards.
05:40 She would put her arm around me and hug my shoulder,
05:44 or she would squeeze my hand. That was the signal to shut up.
05:50 Gypsy Rose's breaking point came when her mom insisted on an unnecessary larynx surgery,
05:55 wielding her power of attorney to double down on her control over her daughter.
05:59 Number 5. Nick Godejon's Alternate Personality
06:03 Gypsy Rose reportedly first met Nick Godejon through a Christian dating app in 2012.
06:08 Two weeks after first communicating,
06:11 did we like make it official on Facebook that we're in a relationship.
06:14 And again, I was in that mindset that, oh, this, this is my knight in shining armor.
06:24 At first, she thought she'd found her Prince Charming,
06:27 who would come and whisk her away from her imprisonment.
06:30 However, Godejon had a history of mental health struggles
06:33 and reportedly believed he had multiple personalities,
06:36 including Victor, a 500-year-old bloodthirsty vampire with a penchant for violence.
06:41 That is when he told me that his alternate personality's name is Victor,
06:45 that he's a 500-year-old vampire.
06:51 Seemingly, it was Victor whom Gypsy Rose pleaded with to free her from her situation.
06:56 Apparently, a former girlfriend had tried to raise the alarm bells regarding Godejon's behaviors,
07:01 but Gypsy Rose brushed her off as just a "jaded ex."
07:05 Number 4. Gypsy Rose created an instruction video for Godejon
07:20 In the documentary, Gypsy Rose reveals that she created a video for her then-boyfriend.
07:25 I really thought that Nick loved me and he was my way out.
07:30 Since it would be night by the time he arrived,
07:32 the footage showcased the layout of their house and provided specific directions to her mother's room.
07:37 She admitted that before the documentary,
07:39 her lawyers were the only other individuals aware of the footage,
07:43 apart from herself and Godejon, of course.
07:46 I made a video for Nick that's kind of like a walkthrough of what the house layout looked like.
07:53 Like, what my mother's bedroom looked like.
07:59 In the video, she's seen miming of violent action,
08:02 which she attributes to a "disconnection from reality"
08:06 fueled by her dependence on pain medication during that period.
08:09 Apparently, even her lawyers were surprised by the unsettling nature of the incriminating footage.
08:14 We picked a random date and it was pretty much the soonest possible
08:20 that I could get enough money to buy the bus ticket for his transportation.
08:27 As we just mentioned, Gypsy Rose attributed some of her past behaviors to her substance use disorder,
08:36 although she does not use it as an excuse for her actions.
08:39 She admits that at that point, she felt this was her only coping mechanism,
08:49 but it led her "down a really dark path."
08:52 It led me down some bad choices that I regret.
08:56 She says she was first prescribed medication after her mother fabricated a symptom
09:00 that resulted in the removal of her salivary glands.
09:03 When the pain persisted, her desperation to find solace intensified.
09:07 She confessed that as she entered prison and started serving time,
09:11 no one was aware of her ongoing struggles.
09:13 She says she has since recovered.
09:16 I'm clean, I'm sober, and I'm not that person anymore.
09:20 When Gypsy Rose was about 19,
09:25 she tried to escape to the home of an online acquaintance.
09:28 And he sent me a text that said, "Can I do the night that we run away together?"
09:33 Despite her efforts, her mother tracked her down and lured her back home.
09:37 I see her walk in the door, and I sit up, and the first thing I say to her is,
09:44 "I know I'm 19, and I can be here if I want to."
09:47 Once there, Gypsy Rose describes a distressing period
09:51 where she found herself physically restrained to her bed with a leash,
09:54 and bells monitoring her movements.
09:56 Dee Dee also allegedly broke any devices that connected her daughter to the outside world
10:01 and subjected her to inconsistent care.
10:04 Once she got me inside the house, she chained me to the bed.
10:07 She smashed my computer and my cell phone.
10:11 Gypsy Rose asserts her mother tried to, quote,
10:14 "hex her to hinder any future romantic relationships."
10:17 She also claims that the fatal incident wasn't the only instance
10:20 of her taking extreme measures to break free.
10:23 So I really started to weigh out the pros and the cons and realizing that
10:26 I needed to get out of this situation now.
10:29 1. What Happened That Night?
10:30 In a deeply unsettling moment, Gypsy Rose reveals a disturbing incident
10:34 from the night of the tragedy.
10:36 She expressed love to her mom, receiving an eerie,
10:39 and disturbing message from her mom.
10:42 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:46 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:49 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:51 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:53 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:56 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
10:58 She then tells her mom that she's been "taken care of" by a "dangerous" man.
11:00 "I remember her telling me, 'What's that for? I'm not dead yet.'
11:04 It was so ironic."
11:07 Conflicted about the plan, Gypsy followed Gaudijan's instructions
11:11 to hide in the bathroom and try to block out any sounds when he arrived.
11:14 Despite complying, she felt torn,
11:17 especially after hearing her mother's cries for help.
11:19 "And to this day, I can't get that out of my head.
11:27 And I wanted to help her, but I don't."
11:30 Gypsy Rose now speaks openly about her experiences,
11:34 aiming to bring attention to others in similar situations
11:37 and prevent them from going down a similar path.
11:40 Her goal is to discourage others from seeking help through harmful means
11:44 and encourage alternative assistance.
11:46 "I am not the same person that I was six and a half years ago."
11:50 What do you make of Blanchard's story? Let us know in the comments.
11:54 "You're getting your chance to speak and show them how far you have come from point A to point Z."
