CHED assures K-12 program for Senior High School students to continue
Transcript
00:00 The Commission on Higher Education or CHED has announced senior high school program will continue under the K-12 program,
00:07 despite previous plans to abolish it.
00:09 CHED released a memorandum urging higher education institutions or HEIs to discuss the issue of offering the SHS program,
00:19 as there is no legal basis for the continuation of SHS vouchers in state and local universities and colleges or SUCs.
00:29 The increase in the number of enrollees is attributed to the free tertiary education provided by the government.
00:36 CHED is urging SUCs and LUCs to respond quickly and develop a clear solution for their SHS program
00:44 and is willing to cooperate with DepEd to ensure students' education is not compromised.
00:49 It's the objective of the memorandum.
00:54 It's not true that CHED is telling you to stop accepting students.
01:01 The memorandum says there is no legal basis to pay subsidy for your senior high students.
01:12 Then you have to discuss now what you are going to do for those that have not stopped offering it.
01:19 For the SUCs and LUCs that have stopped offering it, the memorandum does not apply to them
01:24 because they have already stopped offering SUCs and LUCs in their area already,
01:31 because there may be no more legal basis to pay the voucher coming from DepEd,
01:38 and also because DepEd is saying that there is already space and capacity in the regular high schools for the students to go there.
