00:00 If you look at the situation on tax since the last general election, we've seen 25 tax rises
00:07 since that last general election under the Conservatives. And with the national insurance
00:12 reduction, what the Conservatives are doing is just putting back £2 out of every £10 of extra
00:20 tax that they're levying on people. So this is a case, I'm afraid, of smoke and mirrors. And
00:24 the majority of people actually watching this will know from their experience of what's in
00:29 their pocket and in their bank balance that they're worse off under the Conservatives,
00:34 and I'm afraid that's not changing despite today's news. It looks like this Parliament
00:40 will be the first Parliament in living memory where people's living standards will actually
00:45 be lower at the end of the Parliament than they were at the beginning of it. We really need to see
00:52 a government that's focused on increasing people's living standards, on securing growth for our
00:58 country. Labour's got a plan to deliver that growth, to deliver those higher living standards,
01:03 and people need the chance for that change. Unfortunately, the Conservatives right now
01:07 are blocking the general election that would give a chance for that change.
