00:00 Saturday night where the Dallas Cowgirls knocked off the Detroit Lions 20 to 19.
00:08 Thanks in large part to Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, Cindy Lamb.
00:15 How about the referees?
00:17 Referees blowing it at the end of the game on a two-point conversion
00:21 in which supposedly the Lion player Decker, Eric Decker, checked in.
00:25 Refs didn't hear it. A two-point conversion that was successful ends up being no good.
00:30 Dallas, long story short, wins 20 to 19, Joe.
00:33 And it wasn't how I expected. I really thought Dallas was going to come out flying.
00:38 I thought they'd win this one by double digits.
00:40 Really did. More impressed with Detroit, even though they lost, than I was Dallas, despite the win.
00:46 Yeah, I was really impressed with what we saw out of the Detroit Lions in this one.
00:49 Jared Goff had a solid game. He did have that couple of turnovers, though,
00:54 which really hurt this team.
00:56 When I look here at what the Dallas Cowboys were able to do and how many yards
01:02 Dak Prescott put up at 345 and then how many rushing yards
01:07 Cindy Lamb was able to put up on the board at 227,
01:10 it's hard to believe this team only won by that one point in the 20 to 19 win.
01:16 It looks like they should have had a lot more points in this one.
01:19 There was a couple things that hurt them.
01:21 We saw Cindy Lamb drop that one touchdown right on the goal line there.
01:25 So ultimately, I do think the Cowboys should have scored closer to the 30.
01:30 I was really shocked that they didn't in this one, Scott.
01:34 Yeah, you know, and in all the controversy on the two-point conversion try,
01:38 listen, that stuff's going to happen, Joe, unfortunately.
01:42 But what I'd be concerned about if I'm a Lions fan is why did they go for two
01:48 when they move the ball five yards back to the seven-yard line
01:51 with an extra point, you know, sends the game to overtime?
01:53 Would they do that in the postseason?
01:56 Was Dan Campbell not smart enough to realize he could then kick for one?
02:02 You know, would he have not made the adjustment?
02:05 You know, you're telling me you're so rigid that once you make up your mind about going for two,
02:10 no matter what happens, you're always going to go for two,
02:13 like he made it seem at his postgame press conference.
02:16 You know how I feel about these head coaches when it comes to game management.
02:19 I don't think very many of them are very smart.
02:21 And to me, he showed he wasn't very smart Saturday night by going for two after the penalty
02:28 and not going for one. And then as we talked about Saturday night,
02:31 when you and I worked in-game live, he designs a play in which he's going to throw the ball to a guy
02:37 who coming into the game had zero, zero receptions.
02:41 He's not going to Mont Saint-Brown. He's not going La Porte.
02:44 He's throwing the ball to a guy who's never touched the ball before that game.
02:48 It doesn't make any sense to me.
02:50 Yeah, it didn't make any sense to me either.
02:52 I think that was a really poorly designed play there, throwing it to Mitchell,
02:57 because like you said, Mitchell didn't have any passes before coming into that game.
03:00 He had the one catch, and I just wouldn't have gone to him.
03:05 There was so many other options out there, but you're right.
03:09 It should never have gone to that situation. It should have been,
03:12 let's kick for the extra point. Let's tie it up and go to overtime.
03:16 I still don't understand why Dan Campbell made that call.
03:19 And you know, people saying it was ballsy of him,
03:22 you know, balls of steel, I keep hearing being thrown around.
03:25 But was it or was it just a dumb decision out there?
03:28 Because if things played out differently today and San Francisco lost,
03:33 how would he be feeling today about that decision?
03:35 And yes, it wasn't guaranteed if they went to overtime, they would have got the win.
03:40 But still, you got to question what his thinking was behind that, Scott.
03:45 Yeah. Is it bravery or stupidity? You know, that's the question you ask.
03:49 So.
03:50 (upbeat music)
03:52 (bell ringing)
