WATCH: Danae Robertson on hail damage to her cars and house
Transcript
00:00 Denae, it is about 12.15 now. You've been here at the Smash Repairers since 9.30.
00:05 Can you tell me why?
00:06 So we had a massive hailstorm yesterday and we were actually at our mother-in-law's for lunch
00:12 and checked the security cameras and noticed that we had quite significant damage on our cars in
00:17 Rutherford. So we had to rush home and assess the situation and we have five cars at our place at
00:26 the moment. So the one we were driving isn't as bad but yes we have five cars at the moment that
00:32 are significant different degrees of damage.
00:35 Yeah and you've brought two of those cars down here today.
00:39 Three actually.
00:39 Three, okay. Do you have any indication of when you might find out when they can be fixed?
00:43 So unfortunately not at this time. You know a lot of places are closed with the public holidays and
00:49 Christmas and things like that. It's just you know by sheer luck and goodwill of the people around
00:55 here that you know these guys have opened up today to actually try and provide some quotes for people
01:00 and you know it's just a godsend you know when we're all struggling at this time.
01:04 So just have to wait and see unfortunately.
01:08 Yeah and you have I guess two, you've got a brand new car and you have another car that
01:12 unfortunately wasn't insured at the moment. How are you feeling about that as well?
01:16 It is stressful at this point in time you know when we can't afford a lot of things and you know
01:23 we had to sacrifice the use of one of our cars during this time because we just can't afford to
01:28 insure it. But yeah the brand new car is took a bit of a hit to the heartstrings you know it's
01:33 not even a month old and it's kind of yeah a bit a bit bad.
01:38 Yeah and you've had some solar panels damaged too that you've had to turn off.
01:43 Yeah yeah so we've had seven solar panels out of our 36 that are completely shattered.
01:47 So thankfully there was an emergency line we could call through our solar company.
01:53 They actually got back to me pretty quickly yesterday and said that we need them to isolate
01:57 the power and make sure that they were switched off for security reasons and obviously they don't
02:01 want to start a fire or anything so they can send someone out to assess that as soon as possible.
02:06 Yeah cool.
02:07 Thank you.
