A mum went into labour at home and gave birth - under the Christmas tree.

Leanne Tighe, 38, was expecting her third child to be born before December 25.

But the healthcare assistant had the baby under her Christmas tree on the living room floor - in the space of just 25 minutes.

Leanne's neighbour and best friend Ashley Brooke delivered baby Amelia - who will be known as Mimi.

00:00 expecting to see me pacing around with bad contractions and she walked into her head hanging out.
00:05 I'm Leanne, Mimi's mum.
00:07 I'm Ashley, Leanne's best friend.
00:11 I'm midwife.
00:13 I woke up at half past four in the morning, I'd slept on the sofa
00:22 and I'd been having tightenings all night
00:24 and I woke up with backache, I had four contractions
00:27 and they were about ten minutes apart
00:29 so not very strong, I was talking trash on the phone, talking to my partner on the phone
00:35 and about half past six they started getting much stronger
00:39 so I was saying to my partner when you get home I think we're going to have to go to hospital
00:42 I phoned my niece who works at the hospital to get a lift with her
00:45 spoke to the midwife on the phone and she said
00:49 "Is it the first baby?" and I said "No, third"
00:51 and as I was talking to her my water was broke
00:54 and I said my water was broke and she said "Okay, just make your way in as soon as you're ready"
00:58 put the phone down, I was here, turned around
01:02 and they think that I turned her as I moved
01:04 and then I just needed to push
01:06 so I phoned her back and said
01:08 "I just spoke to you and my water's broke"
01:10 and she said "Oh yeah, you come in to us aren't you?"
01:12 and I said "No, I need to push now"
01:14 so she then phoned an ambulance
01:16 and it all just went crazy then
01:19 it was like from her phoning the ambulance she was then born in seven minutes
01:24 my daughter had come down and her head was hanging out
01:26 and she went back upstairs and phoned Ashley who lives just across the road
01:29 and said "Mum's in labour, you need to come now"
01:32 so Ashley came in expecting to see me pacing around with bad contractions
01:37 and she walked into her head hanging out
01:39 so she kicked off her slippers, got down on the floor
01:42 and persisted to deliver the body
01:52 it was really scary, it was intense
01:55 but it was amazing
01:56 she was so calm
01:58 I'm so glad I was here
02:00 she appeared very calm, I mean I don't know if she actually was
02:03 yeah, I don't know, it's surreal isn't it?
02:06 like in a situation, thinking "Oh I won't be able to do it"
02:09 but I just kind of got on with it
02:12 yeah, it's like there was no time to think really was there?
02:14 no time to panic
02:15 she was coming, whether we liked it or not
02:19 (baby crying)
02:21 and I've said that if I ever have another child
02:25 when I get one contraction I'm going to the hospital and I'm not leaving
02:28 (laughing)
02:30 so I don't have to go through the trauma again
02:32 (music)
02:35 (music)
02:37 (music)
02:39 (music)
02:41 (upbeat music)
