00:00 Inspector General of Police Razeruddin Hussein has ordered a thorough investigation into

00:07 the hit-and-run incident in Ipoh that saw a police officer ram into a student on a motorcycle,

00:13 killing him.

00:15 The order was issued to the Ipoh Amperot police chiefs and the director of Bukit Aman's

00:20 Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.

00:23 Razeruddin gave his assurance that the investigation would be fair and transparent, despite the

00:28 accident having involved a senior police officer at the Kedah Police Headquarters.

00:34 He said police have taken statements from seven witnesses who were at the scene of the

00:38 incident and that the police officer has been arrested.

00:42 Razeruddin said the officer will be brought to court to obtain a remand order today, Barita

00:47 Harian reported.

00:49 He also said the investigation is being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport

00:55 Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
