Storm to gather over southern Plains at midweek
A dry start to the week will give way to rain and a touch of snow across part of the southern Plains and southern Rockies.

00:28 air in here north of El Paso as we
00:31 head toward Thursday.

00:35 Here it is South of Dallas.

00:39 continue to track this right
00:40 across the northern Gulf of Mexico
00:42 as we head into the upcoming weekend here.
00:44 So this is something we're going to be
00:46 dealing with as we go through this week.
00:49 Now beginning Wednesday,
00:49 Thursday here come the impacts.
00:51 First across the Southwest Four
00:52 Corners area with snow in the San
00:54 Juans also some rain and snow across
00:56 parts of the Texas Panhandle.
00:58 We start bringing some wet weather
00:59 Wednesday into Thursday across
01:00 central and West Texas and then
01:02 we're not done as that system tracks.
01:04 Right in the East Texas and the
01:06 northern Gulf by the end of the
01:08 weekend you know these upper lows
01:09 can produce a lot of rain,
01:11 so let's keep an eye on this.
01:13 It's much needed rain.
01:14 Certainly,
01:14 but you know that yellow shading
01:16 tells me there could be two,
01:18 three,
01:18 four inches of rain with this upper
01:20 low as we head toward the end of the week.
01:22 And of course it's following in
01:24 an area that does need it here.
01:26 That is that San Antonio Austin zone
01:28 here and also across Louisiana and
01:30 Mississippi where we have some severe
01:32 and extreme and exceptional drought here.
01:34 So we'll continue to watch this
01:36 as we go through this week,
01:38 but some much needed rain on the way.
