Aberdeen v Hearts debrief

Mark Atkinson reports from Pittodrie after Aberdeen's 2-1 win over Hearts.

00:00 Good evening from Petaudry, Mark Atkinson here. I've just witnessed Aberdeen win 2-1

00:07 over Hearts in a big cinch Premiership match. The Dons coming back from a goal behind of

00:11 a stoppage time winner from Leighton Clarks and they had trailed to Lauren Shanklin's

00:15 opener. The crowd here were pretty angry at half-time but the Dons came out much improved

00:20 in the second half. In the words of Stephen Nacer of the Hearts manager, they bullied

00:24 their opponents. They got a goal from Bozsian Mijovski on 53 minutes and then after that

00:28 it looked like only one team were winning. So it proved with Clarks bundling in after

00:32 good work from Duke. This result alleviates some of the pressure on manager Barry Robson.

00:37 Aberdeen have been on a five-game winless run but that run probably isn't fair on the

00:44 performances of the Dons who have been pretty good in that period which includes a 1-1 draw

00:49 against Rangers. What it does, it means it goes to next week, the Cup final week. They

00:53 play Frankfurt in Europe and they play Rangers on Sunday in the VIA Play Cup final. That

00:58 gives them a shot in the arm going into that game and also means that Hearts, who could

01:02 have gone 13 points clear of the Dons in third place at one point today, are now brought

01:07 back. Speaking of third place, that now belongs to Sindharan who were in that position earlier

01:11 in the campaign. They won against Ross County and Hibbs Leapfrog, their city rivals, who

01:17 have won the win over Livingston. It's getting very, very tight in that race for third place

01:23 and that's why Barry Robson was so pleased that his team in Hitwards got their just reward

01:27 for their performance. In the other match on the Premier League ship at Ibrox, Rangers

01:31 were triumphant over Dundee but Jose Suflantes was sent off with them and Motherwell and

01:36 St Johnson drew one apiece. The big winners, therefore, are probably the team that prevailed

01:41 here in the North East thanks to their 2-1 win. Aberdeen, as I said, they bounce into

01:45 next week full of confidence and they were never out of the race for third place, far

01:51 from it, but it does mean that they have taken some of the heat off their manager, Barry

01:55 Robson, who finished here at a wet, damp and now pretty cold Potardrie, Aberdeen 2-1.
