00:08 Douglas Ross, what will you do on the Rwanda vote next week?

00:10 So I think it's absolutely vital that we use every policy available to prevent people from

00:15 making an extremely dangerous crossing. We see far too many lives lost in the English

00:19 Channel and that's why the Prime Minister has looked at the ruling from the Supreme

00:23 Court. He has looked at the legislation that can be brought through the UK Parliament to

00:28 deter people from making that dangerous crossing, from putting their life at risk and also to

00:33 ensure that the people who benefit from this currently, the people smugglers, that route

00:37 is stopped for them. So I will be supporting the Bill when it comes to Parliament next

00:40 week.

00:41 Even though the Supreme Court made it clear that it's unlawful?

00:42 Well the Supreme Court, the ruling has been looked at by the Government and the Government

00:46 have considered that and brought back this legislation. It will now be up to Parliament,

00:50 the House of Commons and the House of Lords to look at that legislation but ultimately

00:54 I think it's vital that we do everything we can to cut out this route that is putting

00:58 lives at risk and that only people benefiting are the illegal people smugglers.

01:01 So you don't care that the Supreme Court says that it's unlawful because the Prime Minister

01:04 says no it is lawful, you're going with that?

01:06 The Prime Minister and the UK Government have looked at the ruling from the Supreme Court,

01:09 they've brought back legislation and it's now up to Parliament to decide through the

01:13 deliberations in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords if this Bill can progress

01:17 and I think it's absolutely vital that the big thing we have to achieve from this is

01:21 preventing people losing their lives in the most dramatic way, crossing the English Channel.

01:26 Even if Rwanda itself says that it might not be lawful therefore the UK Government might

01:30 have to not get anywhere with it because they might pull out?

01:32 We've seen the Home Secretary out there this week, he's brought back the agreement between

01:36 the Rwandan Government and the UK Government, that's now been presented in a Bill, it will

01:40 go to a vote next Tuesday in the House of Commons and then there's an opportunity in

01:45 the House of Commons and the House of Lords for that to be scrutinised but I will back

01:49 a Bill that prevents people and deters people from making that dangerous crossing where

01:53 we have already seen too many men, women and children lose their lives.
