While ski-lovers in Serbia were ecstatic at the arrival of the early snow this weekend, many were shocked to discover that prices had increased by almost 25 per cent.

00:00 Long time skiers on the Serbia and Kopaonik mountains were pleased to see the early snow
00:07 when they arrived this year. But their joy soon turned to disappointment when they discovered
00:11 prices were much higher than ever before, outstripping even some of the most popular
00:16 alpine resorts.
00:17 We hope that this winter will be a little bit colder, which is very important for us
00:28 because our ski center is 95% equipped with artificial snow, so we can snow 95% of the
00:35 ski center. And it is very important for us that if the temperature is below zero, we
00:40 snow artificially and not depend on natural snow.
00:43 Despite the prices, the Kapaonik resort was even busier than usual this weekend. But even
00:48 for regulars, the price of snow this year is just too high.
00:51 Unfortunately, because of the ski pass prices and the hotel accommodation and the fact that
00:58 we are not staying in a guesthouse, we are going to France this year. I have two older
01:04 children who are good skiers. This year we are going to France, where it costs us 1360
01:11 euros to transport them back by bus, accommodation and ski pass for six days in Lesor for 1360
01:20 euros. And here I can't do that.
01:23 As you can see behind me, there is not enough snow, which is why they produce it artificially.
01:30 But that's why the ski pass prices have risen by about 25%.
01:34 Some are choosing to go to Slovenia this year, but many skiers have stuck with what they
01:41 know and will keep coming to Serbia.
01:43 We have been saving a lot of money, accommodation, ski pass, skiing, everything.
01:49 It's a shame that it melted a little, but it will be back in the next few days.
01:54 I'm not going to ski that much.
