Colombia Ambassador to T&T William Bush says, there are plans to increase the already growing ties between both countries.

He spoke with TV6, on Friday.

00:00 Ambassador Bush says the two countries share a 55-year-old relationship,
00:07 noting that Colombia is working on establishing a trade agreement with Trinidad and Tobago in the area of services.
00:15 He says they are already working with the trade ministry on the project.
00:20 Additionally, he tells us, of plans for music.
00:23 Working on some cultural exchange. For example, I'm working with a steel band that have experience in St. Vincent.
00:35 So we're planning to take them to Colombia to work music in the poor community and to accelerate the relation with Trinidad.
00:54 He says there are at least 10 TT businesses operating successfully out of Colombia.
01:00 His Excellency also tells of the education opportunities that exist.
01:05 I think Trinidad people love Colombia. They like to go to Bogota, they like to go to Medellin.
01:13 So that is important. You talk to people here and they like Colombia, they like the cities.
01:20 We have an education program also for the last 20 years.
01:25 Students can go there and study and work. Most of them like to stay in Colombia and teach English.
01:33 He says over the past 20 years, they received more than 80 university students in Colombia and 20% of them stay in Colombia.
01:44 Ambassador Bush further told of new plans underway with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
01:49 In January, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, our foreign minister signed an agreement with your foreign minister.
01:56 It's a new mechanism to cooperation between the two countries.
02:02 So we're going to base on that agreement that was signed in January in Buenos Aires.
02:07 And also we're going to follow the agreement we have with CARICOM.
02:12 So we will have to have next year the first meeting between our foreign minister with your foreign minister to start the process.
