Transcript
00:00 Hey, some parts of the Northeast meantime woke up this morning to a mixed bag of wintry precipitation.
00:05 One to three inches of rain, of snow I should say, fell from upstate New York into portions of New England
00:11 and as far as Vermont and Maine, creating slick and icy conditions.
00:16 But it will be drying out for the weekend across the region.
00:19 But the damage has been done. There were some slippery roads and we've got video of some icy roads, very dangerous conditions.
00:25 Remember, it doesn't take too much ice to cause problems.
00:28 But look at some of these freezing rain reports from today.
00:31 Turin, New York was the high mark at three-tenths of an inch of ice.
00:35 Montpelier, Vermont, Queensbury, New York, some of these higher elevation locations did check in with a quarter of an inch of ice or more.
00:45 Now meantime, we are drying out. There will still be some lingering light snow showers across northern New England, upstate New York,
00:52 and even a couple of very light rain showers into tonight across portions of the New England coast and down to the Mid-Atlantic coast as well.
00:59 But really nothing too heavy. Temperature-wise tonight, we've pretty much got 30s and 40s out there.
01:05 So it's typical lows for early November. It's going to be a November chill in the air.
01:11 Your Friday weather will be dry for New York and Boston.
01:15 But once you head south of Philadelphia, there will be some rain moving up.
01:19 And that's going to be beneficial because we are going to be seeing, we are seeing wildfires in western North Carolina and also eastern Kentucky.
01:28 States of emergency have been issued for both of those states due to these fires.
01:31 This is just one of them. The Colette Ridge fire near Asheville has been causing a lot of smoke and poor air quality, especially in the mornings.
01:39 So, hey, that's still burning out there, folks. No containment yet.
01:43 So we need that rain. Friday's weather temperature-wise, we've got a November chill out there, folks.
01:47 It's going to last for a couple of days, only 40s and 50s for pretty much the entire northeast.
01:53 And as we mentioned, as you head south of Philadelphia, there'll be some rain and also up into northern New England.
01:59 Now, looking ahead to the weekend, it will be mostly dry for most of the eastern Great Lakes and the northeast as well.
02:05 So the rain we get over the next 24 hours will be beneficial in those fire-stricken areas of the Appalachians especially.
02:12 Here's your Saturday weather. The chill is with us.
02:14 There'll be a few Great Lakes lake effect rain showers going on from Buffalo to Erie, PA, and also up into, let's say, Traverse City, Michigan.
02:22 How about this? We have Veterans Day coming up on Saturday, the New York City Veterans Day Parade.
02:27 Well, the temperatures are a little bit chilly, but the weather should be dry.
02:30 A great day to get out there and salute the veterans in New York City. Temperatures in the 40s.
02:36 Michelle?
