Presiden Muda, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman berkata beliau menghormati keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi yang mensabitkannya dengan empat tuduhan pecah amanah, salah guna harta dan pengubahan wang haram, namun akan menfailkan kes ke Mahkamah Rayuan.
00:00 I would like to start by sharing my position on the decision that was just made.
00:12 I, Syed Sadiq, respect the decision of the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
00:19 As a fundamental lawyer, I need to place my trust in the institutions of the state's judiciary.
00:29 From the past, to the future.
00:35 Because the institutions of the judiciary are the last bastion for the Malaysians.
00:41 And there is no difference between me and the other Malaysians.
00:45 If other people need to respect the decision of the court, I also need to respect the decision of the court.
00:51 I have discussed this with the judges and they have said that we have a good case to be filed as soon as possible to the Court of Appeal.
01:06 So that the institutions of the judiciary will be the last bastion for me and the best place to clear my name.
01:19 I would like to thank the judges who are always there for me, morning and night.
01:27 To my parents, my friends, who are always there for me.
01:35 In this case, I hold onto the words, "Berani kerana benar".
01:43 "Kulil hak walauka namurah". "Berkatalah benar walaupun pahit".
01:51 And in this case, I will use the court and the institutions of the judiciary to clear my name and to respect the decision that has been made today.
02:04 For my future politics, I am a partisan. I will hold a meeting with the young leaders at 4pm.
02:16 And we will invite the media to attend the media session at 5pm.
02:23 I have made my stand regarding my future politics.
02:28 But as a partisan, I need to tabulate to the party so that it can be concluded together.
02:33 I just want to share one thing that I have been saying since the beginning of my politics and the position that I have held until today.
02:41 To change Malaysia is not about a person, but it's about building strong institutions which will outlast personalities and also parties.
02:49 It's not about a person's personality, but it's about empowering the institutions of the people.
02:57 So that regardless of who is in power, no matter which party is in power, Malaysia will always be on the right path.
03:03 And for that, to be a leader who wants to advance the country to the next level, that individual needs to be more white than white.
03:16 To be a good leader in Malaysia, to realise that Malaysian dream, you need to be whiter than white.
03:23 And that will be the most important factor which led me to make the decision which I will make and which I will table to the leadership of MUDA and which we will announce at 5pm after consultation and discussion with MUDA leadership.
03:40 I would like to thank the judges and the media friends who always give coverage in this politics which has fallen and risen.
03:54 I need to accept the fact that as a young man, I will not stop fighting to uphold the truth and to ensure that our country will be a developed country.
04:05 But in this particular path, I need to accept the reality. We need to be whiter than white. Thank you.
04:12 [Inaudible]
04:31 I need to accept the criticism with an open heart. Just like I need to accept the decision of the High Court and the judge today.
04:40 Because I cannot differentiate myself from other people who are also being judged in court.
04:47 For that reason, I want to clear my name in court.
04:50 But I admit and understand that today's decision is not an easy decision to be made.
04:55 That is a decision which is determined that even though we can stay of execution and conviction, but I need to appeal to the court.
05:03 And I accept it. I accept it. I accept the fact that I need to respect the decision.
05:11 And if there is criticism, insults, or insults, I accept it.
05:16 Because in the end, I would like to share once again, to become a good leader in Malaysia, you must be whiter than white.
05:24 [Inaudible]
05:35 As I shared, do come over at 5pm during the PC.
05:41 I personally have made up my mind, actually even before the decision came in, because it is a matter of principle.
05:49 And I cannot preach something else but do something else.
05:54 I am beholden to my words and my principles.
05:57 And as I said, to build Malaysia is not about person.
06:02 [Inaudible]
06:08 Which one?
06:10 [Inaudible]
06:17 Thank you very much.
06:19 To members of the press, family and friends,
06:23 as a Malaysian, as a Sadiq, I respect the decision of the High Court and the High Court Judge.
06:38 And with that respect comes a sense of consistency in defending the institution of justice.
06:57 And I am not here to condemn or disrepute the institution of justice.
07:07 Because in the end, I am like any other Malaysian and should be judged like any other Malaysian.
07:13 And on this matter, after discussion with my esteemed colleagues, lawyers,
07:21 we firmly believe that there is a strong case to be filed in the Court of Appeal to clear my name.
07:29 And I still insist that the best place to clear my name will be in the Court of Law.
07:37 And we look forward to filing the appeal immediately.
07:41 I also share my vision.
07:44 I believe in order to make Malaysia a great country, it's about building strong institutions which outlast personalities and partisanship.
07:54 But in order to be that group of leaders, you have to be whiter than white.
08:01 And I know the position which I'm in today.
08:04 And that's why I personally have made up my mind on what I intend to do in regards to my position as the President of MUDA.
08:12 And at 4pm, we will have a parties meeting to discuss about this.
08:20 And at 5pm, I will announce not just my decision but our collective decision.
08:26 But in Malaysian politics, in order to make this country a great country, you have to be whiter than white.
08:33 And if I don't stand by that principle, then I think I've abandoned the very reason why I joined politics to begin with.
08:41 And I will always remember that.
08:45 So your decision is letting go of your position as the President and also your position as an MP?
08:51 As I shared, whatever decision will be discussed at 4pm and we will announce it at the PC at 5pm.
