00:00 It was a day of chaos for many Australians yesterday with this Optus outage lasting for
00:07 up to 12 hours for some people and with 10 million Optus customers this was a nationwide
00:12 outage and it caused for some perhaps minor inconvenience but to others there was serious
00:17 disruption with inability to access essential services and also this outage ran right through
00:23 the economy through the transport network as well as some hospital systems and banking
00:28 services as well so understandably customers we spoke to this morning in Sydney were quite
00:35 frustrated with the company and their experience and many of them said that it wasn't necessarily
00:40 even compensation that they were after but more a sincere apology and a proper explanation.
00:45 This is a little bit of what some of them had to say.
00:48 For something like this I think we deserve an explanation for one like we haven't heard
00:52 anything about what caused it and also we you know it'd be nice to get something back
00:59 from them for it I think.
01:01 Just a decent apology firstly just maybe look maybe not charging a bank account for or charging
01:09 fees for a week or a month or just something like that as a show of faith.
01:16 Small businesses across the country have also spoken about how they were financially impacted
01:21 by this outage and called for compensation and yesterday Optus' CEO Kelly Beyer-Rosmarin
01:27 was pressed on this issue and she said she would look at all different avenues and also
01:32 that the company wanted to provide methods to thank customers for their loyalty and reward
01:38 them for their patience but refused to confirm whether or not compensation would be given
01:43 to customers.
