Armor All's Outlast Brake Dust Repellent makes a hefty claim

00:00 Hey everyone, this is Johnny Hunkins with the Hot Rod Network and today we're going

00:11 to look at a brand new product from Armor All called Outlast Brake Dust Repellent.

00:17 It's pretty simple, you spray it on your wheel and it's supposed to repel brake dust for

00:22 up to four weeks.

00:25 It's a mighty big claim and we're going to try to test it today on this Z06 Corvette.

00:32 Now as you know Z06 Corvettes have one of the most aggressive brake packages that you

00:36 can get on a production car.

00:39 14.5 inch disc brakes, six piston calipers with some very aggressive pads.

00:46 This car believe it or not was only washed a week ago and you see it's got extreme quantities

00:54 of brake dust build up on the rim.

00:57 So when you combine a really soft aggressive street pad with a chrome plated rim, you end

01:04 up with a mess.

01:05 Especially this brake dust right here, it's got a kind of a brownish red tint to it.

01:10 So we're going to take this wheel off and we're going to spray half the wheel with the

01:16 Armor All Brake Dust Repellent and we're going to leave the rest of the wheel stocked just

01:23 like it is.

01:24 And we're going to drive the car around and we're going to see if the claim is true or

01:29 not.

01:32 Okay kids, we've already got our wheel clean and we've got it taped off so that we can

01:37 apply the Armor All Outlast on just half of it.

01:40 Now they say you're supposed to shake it up really good, which we already did.

01:43 And you want to spray it on and let it dry for about an hour.

01:47 So I don't know what this stuff looks like, we'll find out right now.

01:51 We let the Armor All dry for an hour, we took off the tape, now all we have to do is go

02:04 out and beat on this Corvette for a couple of hours and see how it works.

02:29 Well we've got about 400 miles on our Z06 Corvette and our test wheel here is showing

02:35 some very interesting results.

02:38 We put tape along the middle of this wheel here where the untreated section is below

02:44 and the treated section is above.

02:47 Our tape went right about there where our tire filler is and went across the hub and

02:54 in between these spokes, where you have the spoke right here, was untreated and the top

02:58 part over here was treated.

03:01 We have virtually no brake dust.

03:03 We had a whole bunch of stops from triple digit speeds in here and you can just see

03:08 that there's quite a bit of brake dust in there, considering this wheel was washed just

03:16 only three days ago.

03:18 I would have to say, if you had told me how well this product would work, I would have

03:23 told you you're full of it.

03:25 Clearly, this Armor All Outlast brake dust repellent does work.

03:32 We give it a full thumbs up.

03:34 Look at this, you can see right here where we put the tape, there's the brake dust below

03:39 and there's the treated portion above.

03:42 I mean it's just, it's amazing.

03:44 It really does work.

03:46 So we give it a strong thumbs up.
