Associate Editor Allyson Harwood gives us a look at the 2011 Lincoln MKX at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.
Transcript
00:00 As you can see, styling wise, the Lincoln has received some changes for 2011.
00:14 It has the new grill that we've seen on the MKT and the MKS.
00:19 In addition, there are some new lines right along here.
00:23 The new fender flare that's more strongly defined and some new wheel and tire options.
00:29 One of the biggest changes, which you can't see here, and unfortunately they're not showing
00:33 yet, is the new engine.
00:35 In this case, it's a 3.7 liter Duratec V6.
00:39 It has 305 horsepower, which is 40 more than it did for 2009 and '10.
00:44 And even though there's a lot more power, it still has a 25 mile per gallon highway
00:49 fuel economy number.
00:50 The interior has also been redone with new leather, new Brightworth, and one of the biggest
00:54 deals is Lincoln's new system called My Lincoln Touch.
00:58 This is based on the sync system done by Microsoft, but what Lincoln has done is created a new
01:04 way to control navigation, climate, and a few other features while reducing driver distraction.
01:11 So Lincoln recognizes that the crossover segment is getting more and more competitive.
01:16 With that, Lincoln's gotten more competitive too, and this refresh reflects that.
01:21 One of the interesting things about Lincoln though is they've put a very high priority
01:24 on technology, and this interior might be that cutting edge thing that might just put
01:30 it up above the others when people are considering a luxury crossover.
