00:00 Alright, we're now here at the GM booth and as you can see it's going off.
00:08 One of the reasons is because for the 2008 SEMA show, the Chevrolet Camaro is the official
00:13 car of the show.
00:14 Now that makes a lot of sense because back before SEMA was the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers
00:18 Association, it was the Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association because companies built a ton
00:23 of parts for muscle cars just like the Camaro.
00:26 This year GM brought a whole ton of Camaros to the show.
00:29 Everything from lightly tuned street cars to full on race cars.
00:32 Let's go check them out.
00:33 First up is the Camaro Black.
00:34 Now as you can see this is basically a triple black base Camaro V6.
00:38 It does have the 3.6 liter direct injection V6 that makes about 300 horsepower but GM
00:43 hasn't really done anything under hood.
00:45 They put all of their time and effort into making the body look good and the interior.
00:48 Now why is that important?
00:50 Well because while people like to talk about the SS and the powerful V8 Camaro, the bread
00:55 and butter for GM is the V6.
00:57 They can sell enough of these, it's what keeps the brand alive.
01:00 So this is a very important car that you can get people to buy them and trick them out
01:05 just like this.
01:06 Now behind me represents the opposite end of the spectrum.
01:08 This is a full on race car Camaro.
01:11 It started life as the Camaro SS body in white into which GM engineers dropped a 6.2 liter
01:16 LS3 engine attached to a Tremec TR6060 6 speed transmission.
01:21 Of course it has all sorts of race car bits, full roll cage, carbon fiber hood, fenders,
01:27 racing slicks, even though we don't know exactly what series this may end up racing
01:30 in.
01:31 But that's not the point.
01:32 The point of the car being here is to show consumers, it's to show enthusiasts just what
01:37 you can do if you decide to pick up one of their cars.
01:40 Now those two vehicles represent the extremes of the spectrum from mild to wild.
01:45 In between we found several creative and imaginative examples of what you can do from a tuning
01:50 perspective.
01:51 For example the Dale Earnhardt Jr. inspired V8 Camaro SS that runs on 85 ethanol and then
01:57 in the center of the GM booth is a cherry red Camaro SS that's powered by an LS7 V8.
02:03 Together these cars represent the wide range of tuning possibilities of the Chevrolet Camaro.
