00:00 We're here on the Ferrari stand at the Paris Motor Show with what is undoubtedly one of
00:15 the stars of this year's show.
00:17 It's the new Ferrari California.
00:19 Now this car recalls the classic Ferrari California Spider of the late 50s and early 60s.
00:25 And it also sets a lot of firsts for Ferrari.
00:29 It's the first front engine V8 powered Ferrari in the company's history.
00:34 It's also the first car with a retractable hardtop.
00:37 Fully retractable hardtop in metal, much like a Mercedes Benz SL.
00:43 It's also the first Ferrari to have the company's new transaxle.
00:47 That's a seven speed dual clutch transaxle.
00:51 It's appearing in this car first, but there's no question it will work its way out through
00:55 many other models in the Ferrari lineup.
00:58 Now the old questions, how much, how fast, how big?
01:01 Well 460 horsepower from this direct injection V8.
01:06 Ferrari says that will make the California run from zero to 60 in something under four
01:11 seconds.
01:12 A top speed of close to 200 miles an hour.
01:15 Now let's remember, this is not a little sports car.
01:18 This is not an extreme mid-engine sports car like the 430 is.
01:24 This is a cruiser, but cruiser in Ferrari speak still means plenty fast and plenty capable.
01:31 Has a lot of aluminum and carbon fiber construction.
01:34 Great performance as you would expect, but also a car you can take on a long drive, go
01:39 a long way.
01:41 Now there's no price been announced yet, but you may not have to worry because the first
01:46 two years of production have already been sold out.
01:51 Now in terms of the name, California, well you'd have to sort of wonder, where are they
01:55 going to sell more of these cars than any other place in the world?
01:59 California, of course.
