First Test: 2010 SMS 570 Challenger

Associate Editor Scott Evans is out at the Motor Trend test track to find out how fast the all-new 2010 SMS 570 Challenger is.

00:23 The SMS 570 Challenger.

00:26 Underneath that electric green paint job is a 5.7 liter V8,

00:30 the supercharger, and 500 horsepower and 500 pound feet of torque.

00:34 We've brought it to the track today to see what kind of numbers it can put down.

00:58 First up, acceleration.

01:03 The SMS 570 Challenger did 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds.

01:13 It completed the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 112 miles an hour.

01:22 In 60 to 0 braking, the Challenger stopped in 113 feet.

01:26 On the Motor Trend Figure 8,

01:29 the Challenger lapped in 25.9 seconds at 0.71 average G.

01:38 On the skid pad, the SMS Challenger posted lateral acceleration at 0.86

01:43 average G.

01:45 Now the 570 is real quick on the track here, and

01:48 it handles pretty well for such a big car.

01:50 But for $65,000, that's BMW M3 territory.

01:55 Now if you wanna be noticed, this is the car for you.

01:58 But at that price, there are a lot of other options out there.
