00:00 Storm Kieran has been named by the Met Office. This is a low pressure system
00:06 that is going to move across the UK throughout Wednesday night and through
00:10 Thursday. And let's have a look at the detail on the pressure pattern to do
00:15 with this. So this is what we've got to start as we go into the new week. Low
00:19 pressure is going to be around throughout the week bringing various
00:23 weather fronts across the UK throughout Monday and Tuesday. But we start to
00:29 notice those isobars becoming more tightly packed together as we go into
00:32 the start of Wednesday and that is ahead of Storm Kieran moving into the
00:36 southwest on Wednesday night sweeping north eastwards throughout the day on
00:42 Thursday. And you can see by the time we get to the middle part of Thursday how
00:45 tightly packed together those isobars are especially through the English
00:49 Channel. So that means some very strong winds expected here. Now let's have a
00:54 look at the detail. So the rain is going to start to arrive in the southwest
00:58 Wednesday evening pushing north eastwards as we go into the early hours
01:03 of Thursday. And that's going to bring some pretty heavy bursts of rain
01:06 persistent in places. Now the rain warning is only out for the south of
01:11 England and Wales at the moment but there will be rain further north as well.
01:15 Winds strengthening too throughout the night on Wednesday peaking through the
01:21 day on Thursday. So let's have a look at the detail in those warnings. So firstly
01:26 looking at that yellow rain warning starts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and goes
01:31 throughout the day on Thursday covering southern parts of Wales and southern
01:36 parts of England. Now the totals that we're looking to see in these areas will
01:41 bring some disruption especially to transport. So do bear that in mind if you
01:45 have a journey planned for Wednesday night or during Thursday. Now moving on
01:49 to have a look at that yellow wind warning. Now this starts at midnight on
01:54 Thursday and currently goes through to 6 p.m. on Thursday covering a very
01:59 similar area to that rain warning but extending up into East Anglia as well.
02:04 We're looking to see 50 to 60 mile per hour gusts inland and potentially up to
02:09 90 mile per hour gusts for some exposed coasts most likely through the English
02:14 Channel. Now these are just the two warnings that we have at the moment.
02:18 They are likely to be updated with further warnings expected. So to keep up
02:23 to date with all of that check out our app and our website and make sure you
02:28 subscribe to our YouTube channel so that you never miss an update on Storm Kieran.
