00:00 The UN Security Council has failed against the adverse Israeli-Hamas conflict in Gaza,
00:05 rejecting rival United States and Russian resolutions.
00:08 The US resolution would have reaffirmed Israel's right to self-defense and urge respect
00:13 for international law, especially protection of civilians, and call for humanitarian passes
00:19 to deliver desperately needed aid to Gaza.
00:21 Wednesday's vote was 10-3 with two abstentions and was not adopted because both Russia and China
00:28 cast vetoes. The Russian resolution would have called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire
00:34 and unequivocally condemned Hamas' October.
