00:00 Heavier traffic is expected in major Metro Manila roads as the Christmas season draws near.
00:06 The MMD says they have been looking for ways to prevent a traffic standstill, especially along EDSA.
00:13 A number of motorists were surprised after a Metro Manila Council or MMC resolution was published in newspapers,
00:22 removing the window hours in implementing the number coding scheme.
00:26 Meaning the number coding will be in effect from 7am to 7pm.
00:30 But the MMDA clarifies it will not be implemented yet.
00:55 The MMDA says it will study the traffic volume and flow from Nov 6 to Nov 12 before deciding if the window hours should be scrapped.
01:04 For now, the 7 to 10am and 5 to 8pm enforcement of the number coding will still be in effect.
01:12 As much as our agency can hold it, we will hold it.
01:18 But if it is necessary, especially for the coming weeks after the Christmas season,
01:24 we will announce it in case it is implemented.
01:34 For me, it should not be. For example, I'm a senior, I need to bring my household items.
01:41 I will go out, I will follow the time, 10 to 5 o'clock.
01:47 I will follow it. When that time comes, 5 o'clock, I will not go out.
01:52 Sometimes, I just remember in the morning, it's hard. Of course, you are also late.
01:58 If I have a day, if I'm the one who runs the office, I will just commute. I will not bring much vehicle.
02:06 Meanwhile, the MMDA also plans to increase the penalty for violators of the exclusive bus lane along EDSA.
02:12 From P1,000, this may go up to P30,000 plus revocation of driver's license depending on the number of offenses.
02:22 The MMDA says the number of violators reached over 4,300 last July.
02:27 We have already noticed that there are some vehicles that pass by repeatedly.
02:33 They are willing to pay P1,000 every time because they can afford it.
02:41 The only car that can afford it is the car that is repeatedly passing by.
02:47 Penalties for contractors violating policies on road excavation and repairs will also be increased.
02:54 That will be at P20,000, P30,000, and P50,000 depending on how grave the violation is.
