00:00 I'm here at the Old Melbourne Jail and I'm going ghost hunting.
00:03 From 1845 until it closed in 1924, the Old Melbourne Jail has held some of the country's
00:11 most dangerous criminals. 133 people were hanged in the jail including
00:16 Australia's most infamous bushranger, Ned Kelly.
00:19 So a lot of the gnarly weapons, the Keto 9 tails, used to lash prisoners in the back again and again.
00:28 Apparently it took a good lasher, 10 lashes to get through the skin and through the muscle
00:35 and hit ribs. And then they're taken to the hospital,
00:38 fill the wounds with salt until they're ready to take the rest of their punishment.
00:44 The former jail is now living a new life as a museum on Russell Street in Melbourne, Victoria.
00:51 We're going into what is meant to be the most haunted room here.
00:57 It's meant to welcome you in, to push you out.
01:04 It feels pretty normal to me. What about you? Do you feel pushed out?
01:12 Not really.
01:21 Some common signs of ghosts is a sudden drop in temperature. But it actually feels pretty
01:29 toasty in here to be honest with you. Some rooms that we've been into have been
01:32 colder than others and some of them quite warm. So that could be a ghost.
01:45 The other maybe key giveaway of ghosts is technological legends. But
01:52 all my technology's been working fine.
