00:04 and we're here with the new 2022 Ford Maverick.

00:09 For years, if you wanted a small American pickup truck,

00:18 your options were a regular cab F-150,

00:20 a regular cab Silverado, or regular cab Ram.

00:23 As a revitalized midsize segment has proven,

00:25 for some customers, any half ton truck is too much.

00:28 With the new 2022 Ford Maverick,

00:30 Ford's betting that for some,

00:32 even a mid-sizer is too much pickup truck.

00:34 So like the Hyundai Santa Cruz,

00:37 the Ford Maverick is a compact pickup

00:38 riding on a unibody platform.

00:40 There are two available powertrains in the Maverick.

00:42 Standard is a 2.5 liter inline four paired electric motor

00:45 that drives the front wheels through a CVT.

00:47 This powertrain makes 191 horsepower,

00:50 and Ford says it's estimated to get up to 40 miles per gallon

00:52 in the city.

00:53 Optional, if you need a little more power,

00:55 is a two liter turbocharged inline four

00:57 that comes courtesy of the Bronco Sport,

00:58 making 250 horsepower.

01:00 It's available in both front wheel drive and all wheel drive.

01:03 Modular is the name of the game

01:05 when it comes to the Maverick's bed.

01:07 There are 12 tie downs.

01:08 There's a DIY electrical panel for your own accessories,

01:11 such as an air compressor to air your tires down,

01:13 or air up a mattress.

01:15 Whatever you need to do, Ford's designed this truck to do,

01:16 despite its small size.

01:18 If the Maverick's 40 miles per gallon,

01:22 estimated fuel economy, it's 1500 pound payload,

01:24 or 4000 pound towing capacity, it didn't catch your eye,

01:27 maybe it's price well.

01:29 The Maverick starts at 21,490.

01:31 That makes it the cheapest new pickup truck

01:33 for sale in America today.

01:34 Ask any pickup truck owner,

01:38 and they'll tell you that interior storage

01:39 is just as important as exterior storage.

01:42 In the Maverick, there's under seat storage in the back,

01:44 where you can fit a fully inflated volleyball,

01:47 roller blades, or if you're, you know,

01:50 actually working with your truck, a tow hitch,

01:53 tie downs, that kind of thing.

01:54 There are fit slots, where you could 3D print

01:57 your own accessories, laptop holders, deep cup holders,

02:01 bins for everything, and then, you know,

02:03 stylish splashes of color, like this cool

02:05 countertop inspired dash, and this orange trim

02:08 spread throughout the cabin.
