Phantom Fury is an old-school first-person shooter mixed with a road movie adventure developed by Slipgate Ironworks. Players will utilize an enormous arsenal of weapons and skills to battle treacherous soldiers and vile mutants, all while trying to save mankind. Take a look at the gameplay demo with Game Director Daniel Hadjazi and 3DR CEO Frederik Schreiber. Phantom Fury is launching in 2023 for PC.
00:05 So Daniel, today we're playing a little bit of Phantom Fury and are going to show the first public showing of a mission a bit into the game.
00:16 Can you tell everyone a bit about where we are?
00:21 Well, I mean, not really, it's a bit of a secret, right? Shelly is on her way to a very important place. The whole game is basically, you know, like it's a road movie, right?
00:34 So she goes to a lot of different places. Early on she's in Albuquerque. Right now she's on her way to a bit of a more idyllic location, which has a bunch of, you know, very dangerous secrets in there.
00:49 That's all I can say right now.
00:51 I would say, correct me if I'm wrong, Daniel, we were kind of going pretty insane with the amount of interactivity in the game.
00:59 You could say that, yeah. Yeah. That was like one of the big things from the very beginning.
01:05 And I would say like everyone in the development team has, you know, like has always taken that sort of like as, you know, the big, most important pillar in the game throughout the whole development.
01:14 That was really important that the game is linear, but it feels as if the world itself is alive. Like you just with everything around you, right? Like you can feel that there is a bigger world that you're a part of.
01:27 Exactly. And I think what makes the game very unique in the way it's set up is, you know, we have this, it's a trip where you essentially go through mission by mission, but it never cuts.
01:40 You know, you're always, it's just one continuous long game, just like, you know, games like Half-Life and so on.
01:46 But what's really cool about it is that then we add a ton of elements from immersive sims.
01:51 So it's almost as if the game is an immersive sim in terms of all the different things you can do and the almost insane amount of interactivity, which I think is a kind of a unique mix for a game like this.
02:04 So, let's see, we have a mission here. We have reached the control room to gain control over the train. All right.
02:10 Exactly. And we'll drink some cocktails and some wine. Okay, I'm getting drunk already.
02:21 I'm gonna have our weapons here. I'm gonna go back to my GDF shotgun here.
02:26 Oh, get away from that. Get away from that.
02:38 I love the dismemberment.
02:46 No, but like for us it was really important that even with a train map like this that there's like a certain level of exploration there, right?
02:52 Because like usually when you think train map, like you think probably like a very linear map, right?
02:57 And we wanted to make sure even in a map like this that there's like a certain degree of exploration in there.
03:02 Absolutely. And the fact is, as you say, usually train maps are very linear.
03:08 The fact that there's so much exploration is part of making, you know, the missions in Phantom Fury so interesting.
03:14 All right. Let's have some fun with these guys.
03:18 And actually you can rip this one off as well at some point with an arm upgrade, right?
03:27 That's correct.
03:29 Good call.
03:33 Okay, I'll take it. I'll take it. Oh, shit.
03:41 Oh, shit.
03:42 So this is our electric flamethrower essentially.
03:51 Basically, yeah. Bit of a twist.
03:54 All right. Let's see emails.
03:57 Hmm. New measures for security crate.
04:01 Interesting. New code is FBCADE.
04:06 F-B-Cade. All right.
04:10 B-C-A-D-E.
04:16 Here we go.
04:19 Ooh, nice. The keycard. Yes.
04:24 Oh, yeah. This is one of the kiosks that I mentioned.
04:28 Yeah, these are the upgrade stations.
04:30 Exactly, yeah.
04:32 Okay, let's see. So you have charge, punch.
04:37 I'm gonna do that.
04:40 Gonna love me some dual wielding.
04:43 Yeah, that's a good choice.
04:45 All right. Now I just need to find another gun.
04:52 All right. Let's see here.
04:59 Wonder what's gonna happen now.
05:04 Oh, shit.
05:07 Come on. Out of ammo.
05:19 Can't hit it from here.
05:21 Yeah, don't die. Just don't die, please.
05:30 Yeah. Well, I did.
05:35 All right. That was not good.
05:39 But instead of me spoiling everything, Daniel,
05:43 what do you think about that we just give this to everyone?
05:47 Like right here, right now at Realms Deep.
05:49 You know, that sounds fair.
05:51 I mean, you died. Might as well get something out of it, you know.
05:55 Exactly.
05:57 All right, everyone. You heard it here first.
