Allotments Association protest about overdevelopment on green spaces took place outside WH Smith in Burgess Hill

Burgess Hill Allotment Association members showed their dismay on Saturday 7 October at the possible loss of a valued green space in the town

00:04 This is a joint protest between the Birgisdale Allotments Association and the Birgisdale Residents Association

00:09 over a decision to not remove Chactainbury allotments from the district plan

00:16 and the district council's plans to build 300 houses on local rail-owned land.

00:21 We feel this is unacceptable and it will cause unacceptable damage to the wildlife,

00:27 inconvenience residents, there's a known flood risk

00:31 and it's inexcusable that we'll be losing the town's largest allotment site.

00:37 We've heard a lot of excuses, they aren't good enough,

00:40 so we've gathered plenty here to make a lot of noise

00:44 and show the frustration of both allotment holders

00:48 and those who care about our local wildlife and ecosystem.
