00:00 We're here at the Los Angeles International Auto Show where Cadillac has just introduced
00:12 the production version of its 2013 XTS.
00:16 Cadillac says that space is the ultimate luxury and that's what it's trying to do with this

00:21 Positioned it a little bit above the CTS although this is not a flagship.
00:25 This is a front wheel drive based Cadillac with a 3.6 liter direct injection V6 engine,
00:32 available Haldex all wheel drive and lots of big features like Cadillac's new Q infotainment
00:37 system with haptic controls on the big screen in the center of the dash.
00:42 There's also some collision avoidance systems, the type of thing we've seen from Mercedes
00:45 over the past few years and Volvo where thanks to a radar behind this badge up front here,
00:53 if the radar detects that you're approaching a solid object too quickly it'll actually
00:57 activate the four wheel Brembo disc brakes for you.
01:01 There are other great features on this car.
01:03 There's a little bit of post bling bling in the door handle.
01:06 Instead of putting light under the door handle the way most luxury cars have it today, the
01:12 light pipe is actually right here so at night this will light up for you and you can find
01:15 the door handle.
01:16 Now let's take a look at the inside.
01:18 As you can see this is the XTS Platinum, the up level version of course.
01:21 As we're showing at the auto show this is all about luxury and comfort.
01:26 The car is said to handle well as a modern luxury car should but it's not a performance
01:31 car, it's not a car for handling.
01:33 It has lots of room, big back seat with more leg room than the competition like the Audi
01:39 A6 and the Mercedes E class and a huge, huge trunk.
01:43 So we took a look at the new Cadillac XTS.
01:45 It's going to be an important car for Cadillac but even more important is that Cadillac needs
01:49 to do a large S class sized flagship car and we saw what Cadillac might be able to do with
01:56 the CL concept that appeared at Pebble Beach earlier this year.
02:00 Now imagine this as a sedan, a car with big proportions, with modern engines that get
02:05 good fuel economy.
02:07 This is the future of Cadillac if it wants to be serious as a global luxury brand.
