00:00 What David and I are driving right now is called the Derelict.
00:13 It's a '52 Chrysler station wagon with a DeSoto front clip on it.
00:19 It's sitting on an Art Morrison chassis and it's got an all 6.1 Hemi SRT8 drivetrain like
00:25 out of a new Challenger or Charger.
00:29 We have a similar idea to build a car just like this with a '52 Dodge we just got.
00:34 So Jonathan loaned us this car as our daily commuter for a week or so and we're loving
00:40 it.
00:41 Everything works.
00:42 I mean if you look at it, it looks like a '52 wagon.
00:45 Nobody would ever know the difference.
00:46 But it's got good power, it starts, runs like a new car, it's got air conditioning, my iPod
00:53 is hooked up, all the gauges work.
00:56 Dave Shannon at Redline did the gauges for this thing and this is like the ultimate daily
01:01 driver.
01:02 The clock even works if you can believe that.
01:05 So we're having a lot of fun driving this thing and hopefully if we ever get the ambition
01:10 we'll do this to our Dodge.
01:13 And look for the story on the Derelict in the April 2000 issue.
01:16 April 2000 issue.
01:18 April 2011 issue.
