Tamar Valley Peace Festival Student Peace Walk at Royal park combines environmental, social justice and student groups into one voice, a voice that had to battle ferocious winds, but was still heard. Video and Pictures, Rod Thompson.

00:00 We've got seven schools participating today, as well as UTAS, and we have six student speakers

00:12 from lived experience, and we're talking about social justice issues, and we're showing our

00:19 support for a federal Human Rights Act.

00:23 So we've got Extinction Rebellion, Wilderness Society, we've got Connected Women, and we've

00:30 got Migrant Resource Centre.

00:34 They're just a few of the ones, as well as Yes 23 and Reconciliation Tasmania.

00:39 Yes, it is larger, because we've actually invited community groups and the public today.

00:45 So we just think it's a wonderful unifying event, bringing all sectors of the community

00:54 together to stand up for human rights.

00:56 The students have chalked up the levy banks with their colourful peace slogans.

01:02 And so we're just about, I just think it's a wonderful unifying event, and I'm really

01:09 proud of our youth.

01:11 Our youth are our future, and I'm privileged to work with a very inspiring group of youth

01:18 who want to make a difference.

01:20 All of these people have turned up today because they want to make a difference.
