00:00 First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of
00:07 the Republic of Cuba, also President of the G77 in China, Your Excellencies, Heads of
00:18 State and Government, Your Excellency, Heads of Delegations, Representatives of International
00:29 Organizations, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good afternoon.
00:38 It is for me an honor to participate in this meeting of the G77 in China in the Republic
00:47 of Cuba, a home and symbol of the dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean.
00:57 A people who, through their resistance to the greatest genocide blockade known to humankind,
01:13 has won a prominent place in history.
01:22 I come in representation of the people of Honduras and millions of Latin Americans and
01:28 Caribbeans now joined in Salak, of which I will take the presidency in January 2024.
01:45 I am the first woman president coming from the streets, from the people's struggles,
01:54 accompanied by a resisting people for 12 years and seven months that we fought against the
02:01 infamous coup d'etat on President Manuel Zelaya Rosales, a friend of Cuba's, of Fidel's and
02:11 Raul's.
02:17 Today I am in the face of the result of that breakage where an elite was grown in the shadows
02:27 of corrupt practices that turned Honduras into a drug state which indebted and impoverished
02:38 our people.
02:42 With my electoral victory in 2021, we began an era of changes and actions in the benefit
02:53 of humankind and in the defense of nature.
02:57 The recovery of the public sector, the rights of the working class and our true independence
03:08 is now in place.
03:12 And that is the mandate that the people gave me at the urns.
03:18 My dream is to help to build a great -- the great homeland of Marti, Morazan and Bolivar
03:29 where our continent is a territory of peace, a territory that is just socialist and democratic.
03:41 We cannot even think to have this condition to take any step backwards.
03:56 And for this we must support CELAC, which is a space where we promote the use of science,
04:07 technology and innovation in our development.
04:16 Finding common points in spite of our differences is a key element.
04:27 What good would the G77 be?
04:32 What good would the World Bank be and the CELAC and the United Nations organizations
04:41 if we are not able of eliminating the unjust blockades or sanctions imposed, the neo-slavery,
04:54 the neo-colonialism, the hegemony of capital on mankind and the wars promoted by the military
05:05 industrial complex which caused so much suffering and pain in the world?
05:14 Globalization shows a negative balance for our countries.
05:23 And now we have come here before you to propose a unity and a new order that will take into
05:32 account the following main aspects.
05:37 First, to accelerate the process of commercial exchange in the world in different currencies
05:47 so that we can open a cycle of world development that allows for the growth of our GDPs.
05:58 Second, to establish a realistic agenda of sustainable development goals so that it doesn't
06:15 become a theater play.
06:18 Third, that the member countries of the G77 and China to commit to rejecting and not complying
06:28 with coercive measures such as sanctions or blockades against our member countries.
06:40 We energetically denounce the unjust blockade against Venezuela and Nicaragua.
06:49 Fourth, to establish a permanent commitment to not wage war and to develop strong negotiation
07:00 mechanisms for the debate and resolution of our conflicts.
07:08 And fifth, to democratize the cause of knowledge and its products, we must create a scientific
07:21 -- a world scientific community that can revert the grave process of climate change, as well
07:30 as the rescuing restoration of the environment and our natural resources.
07:38 Sixth, we must commit -- fully commit to the respect of the self-determination of the peoples,
07:50 and under no circumstances will we try to impose our way of life, our culture, our religion,
08:02 or our economic model on any of our members.
08:11 To us, achieving democratic socialism is a mission and a reason of existence to change
08:22 and radically improve the quality of life of our people, and to respect popular consultation
08:30 as the channel we have chosen to achieve this goal.
08:38 The time has come to end the backyard, because we are not pieces on a chessboard of independence
08:55 and apology.
08:57 Our nations cannot continue suffering from massive privatization of their territories.
09:07 Distinguished heads of state, I would like to issue an acknowledgment to President DĂaz-Ganel
09:18 for continuing with the historical legacy of Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution,
09:27 Fidel Castro Ruz; Army General RaĂşl Castro; Commander Hugo Chávez FrĂas; Lula da Silva;
09:41 Manuel Serralla Rosales; Cristina; Rafael; Evo; Daniel; Nicolás Maduro; and other founders
09:56 of CELAC for having resisted the systematically neoliberal attack, and for maintaining and
10:08 keeping intact the willingness to make our integration larger.
10:16 What I have here expressed may undoubtedly sound audacious, but to us it is essential
10:29 to build a world in which we all have a place of equality, freedom and justice.
10:39 Thank you.
10:40 (Applause.)
