So this season we have four teams entered into the Highlander Murray League and all
00:07
competitive teams looking to do well. There's 11 teams in total, so just trying to make
00:19
sure we're competitive in that avenue. So this season we've got the Highlander Murray
00:23
League, we've also got a team entered into the Scottish Cup, which has obviously competed
00:26
in teams all over Scotland, so it'll be the first time in roughly four or five years that
00:30
Inverness have entered a team into the Scottish Cup, so that's something new for us to look
00:33
towards and look forward to. We did really well last year, so last year we had three
00:37
teams in the Highlander Murray League. We came first and second out of our teams that
00:42
we entered there, so a really, really strong performance last year. At the moment we have
00:45
upwards of 50 members, which is quite incredible. We've got 40 members who play in the four
00:51
teams and we've got 10 recreational players in our new sessions that start up on a Thursday
00:55
night. In the Highlands it tends to be stronger at senior level. It's something that's not
00:59
massively prevalent in schools yet, but we are working really hard to change that. Inverness
01:04
level club themselves are obviously predominantly female clubs, so we're trying to bring that
01:09
into any schools where we've got teachers. We run an S1 to S4 session here on a Friday
01:15
night for that age group as well, so we're trying to really influence from as early an
01:18
age as possible to get girls in to get involved in the sport and avenue. The schools have
01:23
been really receptive to it. If any of the girls here are willing to take a session,
01:27
then it's completely well received from the schools. It's definitely a good sport in Inverness.
01:32
Since I've been in the club nearly 10 years now, I think I remember my first training
01:36
session, it's been about five people in total. So now that we're at 50, it's just quite incredible.
01:40
So, yes, it's grown massively over the last few years and continues to do so even now.
01:45
The four teams in the league this year coming first and second last year was a great achievement,
01:48
so for us if we can get any better than that, we'll be delighted. But our fourth team is
01:53
very new and just developing themselves, so really for them just get some competition,
01:57
get some games under their belt and doing as well as they can, we'll be delighted.
02:00
So we train, team training on a Wednesday night, all four teams can train together,
02:05
and then on a Thursday night is when we have our open sessions for anyone to come along,
02:08
whether you've played netball before or not at all. We have sessions on a Thursday night
02:12
that are for any newcomers or anyone that wants to potentially compete in a team for
02:17
next season so that's important to everyone.
