00:00 Rounds of gunfire rang out just before half past one, piercing a bedroom window, striking
00:07 a teenager as he slept and shattering the peace in this otherwise sleepy Endeavour Hills
00:15 street.
00:15 Next thing I saw, about five, ten minutes later, the police turned up, the ambulance
00:21 turned up.
00:22 We believe a number of shots were fired towards the home, either from the footpath or the
00:26 road and unfortunately a couple of those shots went inside the house and we believe has struck
00:31 the boy.
00:32 The 17 year old boy was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His family
00:38 escaped without injury. Police today combing through the crime scene as they try to piece
00:45 together what unfolded.
00:47 We are in the very early stages of this investigation but we're operating on the belief that it
00:52 is a targeted shooting.
00:54 Police suspect the victim was not the intended target.
00:58 We have no information at the moment to suggest there's a link to any other gang or criminal
01:02 activity.
01:03 CCTV footage and witnesses have reported an SUV circling the street before the shooting
01:09 with the car later found burnt out at a Nariwarren Reserve. Police are appealing for anyone with
01:16 information or footage to come forward.
01:19 We believe this may be the vehicle involved and we have information that suggests the
01:23 burning out of that vehicle may have resulted in the injury to one of the people involved.
01:29 Police will continue their investigation. The teenage boy remains in hospital in a stable
01:34 condition.
