00:08 Well then, so I inspired this fit here. I think it's giving more Jimi Hendrix.

00:13 It's giving Prince and it's also giving Walla.

00:16 You just had your pre-show and you sampled and performed with Nelly.

00:20 What was that about? How important was that representing the South in an iconic moment?

00:25 Just a generational gap that we tried to close. He's the older homie, I'm the little homie.

00:31 Just to be able to come in between, shake hands and do something beautiful for everybody was the goal.

00:37 We did that and made an iconic moment.

00:40 Have you worked with him before in the past or how did that conversation come about?

00:43 We played basketball before together but that was about it.

00:46 Now we're making music and doing big things together musically.

00:50 That's awesome. Love to see the generational gap get closed.

00:54 You recently released "College Girls Have More Fun" and said you can say that from experience.

00:59 How do you think college girls are having more fun?

01:02 College girls like to live life more on the edge.

01:04 You know what I'm saying?

01:06 When they're done studying, when they're done testing, they kind of like to live a little bit.

01:11 You know what I'm saying?

01:12 Did you go to college or were you around campuses?

01:15 I wish I went to college.

01:17 But I do a lot of college shows now so I get the college experience briefly.

01:21 I never went to college.

01:23 It's okay. The streets are the best teachers out here. You feel me?

01:26 The streets are the teachers.

01:28 Exactly. You're 20 years old, right? That's amazing.

01:31 You recently endorsed a candidate for mayor in your hometown of Memphis, right?

01:36 That's not normal, I would say, for young black men to be interested in politics as that.

01:43 Why was it so important for you to get involved to publicly make your stance and support a candidate?

01:48 You just need help. The city of Memphis needs help mainly with the youth.

01:53 The guy that I enjoy is Paul Young.

01:58 I've had a lot of meetings with him and he sees what I do with the youth

02:03 and he can help me be more in tune with the youth.

02:06 At the end of the day, it helps the whole city.

02:09 I'm just rooting for anybody that wants to spark change and it starts with the kids.

02:14 That's a beautiful message. I think you also take social media and that platform to speak on things like your eating habits.

02:20 I think you're a vegan, am I right?

02:22 How do you think that social media has helped you connect with the youth with such important messages like that?

02:26 Just simply being vocal, like what you said. Just letting people know about my diet.

02:31 Letting people know about my journey of life.

02:33 My walk of life has always been a thing to where I've inspired the masses.

02:37 Far more than what music can even do sometimes.

02:40 That's beautiful. I think 20 years young but you're way mature beyond your years.

02:45 The VMAs have been here for 39 years. Can you remember a moment that you feel was one of your favorites?
