Is Casey Neistat Harassing YouTubers About Politics?

Casey Neistat urged big YouTubers to talk about their political opinions, and some people took issue with it.

00:00 YouTube star Casey Neistat broke from his typical style on Tuesday to discuss

00:03 politics to his over 5 million subscribers. "I will be voting for Hillary

00:08 Clinton." He also called out a lot of the YouTube community for not speaking up

00:11 about the election and politics on their own channels. I think the general idea

00:15 here was that a lot of these youtubers have a huge voice, they have a huge

00:18 following, and in turn that comes with a responsibility. I mean you can't say

00:22 YouTube stars are doing nothing. YouTube came up with their own video that a ton

00:26 of stars starred in. "Can make change. So get out there, go, do it. Vote IRL." Tyler Oakley

00:32 is going around the country trying to sign up voters to vote for Hillary. Other

00:36 than that, I'm not sure what else everyone else is doing. While he did

00:39 receive a lot of support and praise for the video, a lot of other people thought

00:41 it was condescending or inappropriate. Martinelli Minimo says, "Casey, you

00:46 screwed up big-time. You're an entertainer, not a politician." Samir Vij

00:50 brings up this guy, "Vote for Harambee everyone." And Philip DeFranco even

00:54 stepped in, not surprisingly, saying that Casey is asking viewers to harass

00:57 creators. "If you're calling out other Hillary Clinton supporters who are big

01:01 creators to stand up, that's that's one thing, but to then send a mob of people,

01:05 that's just a completely different thing and I was disappointed by it." However,

01:08 some good did come out of this and he did inspire some youtubers to get out of

01:11 their comfort zone and speak about the issue at hand. Most notably, Grace Helbig

01:15 came out and told her fans that she is indeed supporting Hillary Clinton. "Donald

01:20 Trump is so many things that I don't want as a representative of the country
