Operation Sycamore Launches In Hartlepool

00:00 Today's operation is around Operation Sycamore. It's a bit of a joined up approach between

00:03 the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Hartlepool which we're going to lead on in conjunction

00:07 with our CID and response teams. Just basically in response to the neighbourhood concerns,

00:11 anti-social behaviour, serious organised violence, organised crime, anything across the town

00:17 that the community is having an effect on their lives and their day to day business.

00:22 It's about time that we were out here with a bit more of a joined up approach and we

00:25 will be and this is what the start of it is. We've been doing it before but this is the

00:29 start of a bit more of that. And it's going to be a regular thing? This is going to be

00:32 a regular thing, yes. It's not going to be every day. We need to be able to maintain

00:37 it. We want to be focused. We want to be able to make sure that we're putting our resources

00:41 in the right place to achieve that. And what message do you hope to give to the public?

00:45 Just a bit of a reassurance to the public really that their concerns that there is with

00:48 us are being listened to. Whatever they tell us, we will respond to and we'll react to.

00:54 Like I've always said before, this might not be tomorrow or the following day but we'll

00:58 build that up and we'll look at it and we'll have a targeted, controlled approach to responding

01:03 to the community's issues and needs. We want to give them that reassurance back that we

01:07 are listening to them. And how much of an impact do you think this will have on the

01:11 criminals and the general public? I think it will have a really good impact on both

01:15 personally. I think already the residents that we've spoke to in this street, they're

01:19 over the moon that we're here and it's about time we were here doing something about these

01:23 two properties. These two properties are causing them no end of grief on a daily basis. We've

01:29 identified another property down the end of the street where people are going from these

01:32 two addresses into that one and causing issues there as well. We don't know who's there is

01:37 but we're going to get that boarded up and secure it. By doing what we've done here at

01:41 these two and securing that one, hopefully that will send a message out that we will

01:44 do something. What we can do, we will do. And the criminals out there, we're coming

01:50 off here if you want to do coming up here then we're coming out after you.
