Turkish authorities say five people have died and three are missing following flash floods from torrential rains that turned the streets of Istanbul and parts of the country’s northwest into rushing rivers. Media reports said the nighttime storm partially flooded an Istanbul subway station and forced the evacuation of dozens of people from a city library. The rains come after a very dry summer that pushed water levels in the city’s reservoirs to their lowest in nine years.
