Deputy mayor Seb Dance explains project to re-name London Overground lines

00:00 You may have seen on the network there's been some posters telling people that we're engaging

00:04 on this project.

00:05 So there's some six lines.

00:07 And really the problem that we have at the moment of course is that it's currently just

00:10 the London Overground.

00:11 When there's an issue on the line or when people want to navigate more easily on the

00:16 network it can be sometimes a little bit confusing if you're not familiar with it.

00:20 So the renaming project is very important.

00:22 It will help Londoners and visitors navigate the network much more easily.

00:27 Work is progressing and watch this space.

00:31 Hopefully very soon we'll have some more on that.

00:35 In total it's set to cost upwards of £6 million.

00:38 Is there much evidence that it really is an issue, that it really is confusing people

00:42 just having a phone with an overground?

00:44 Yeah.

00:45 It is a confusing issue, particularly when there is, in the very rare occasions, there

00:49 is disruption on the network.

00:50 It is extremely important that passengers get a much more focused set of information

00:57 on where the issue is.

00:59 So it will definitely help on that.

01:00 But just in terms of navigating, and when you look at the map, the single kind of double

01:05 orange line can be a little bit confusing.

01:08 So we just want to make it more accessible as well for people who find the network just

01:12 that little bit more challenging.
