00:00 Have you ever wondered what it's like to be one of the delivery parcels?
00:11 One to deliver parcels, rather.
00:13 This game will let you experience being a rider at night.
00:16 But keep your helmet on because it's a spooky horror ride.
00:20 To tell us more about the game, we have some of its creator, John Ruiz Pereira and Edrich
00:25 Nambio.
00:26 Good afternoon, gentlemen, and welcome to the show.
00:29 So first and foremost, tell us what inspired you to create LIGAO?
00:35 Actually, during the pandemic, delivery riders increased, which is couriers, shops, and food.
00:49 Then we also saw in the news, because it's research, we also saw in the news the struggles
00:56 as a rider.
00:57 So that's why they became our main focus during the pandemic.
01:02 So why is it called LIGAO?
01:04 Whose idea was this?
01:06 For LIGAO, we based it on being a rider.
01:14 It's still possible, even if we say that they have a direction where they're going,
01:21 they'll still be couriers.
01:22 It's still possible for them to be couriers.
01:26 Because in the Philippines, there are a lot of streets, that's where the word LIGAO came
01:31 from.
01:32 So for our viewers to understand the game, can you tell us what the object of the game
01:36 is?
01:37 What do they have to do when playing the game?
01:38 We made it as a role-playing, as a delivery rider.
01:44 Then we also have a parcel that will be delivered as usual as a delivery rider.
01:52 That's where we put the sense of horror, that it's not new, it's not common.
01:59 That's where we put the horror, that while they're role-playing as a delivery rider,
02:05 they'll experience the horror.
02:09 Is this related to what delivery riders actually experience?
02:12 Is it symbolic?
02:15 There are times when it's possible for it to happen, but we also put mental health
02:25 awareness in the game.
02:26 Okay, I see.
02:27 Can you tell me more about that?
02:28 Why mental awareness?
02:29 Actually, mental health is not really focused in the Philippines.
02:37 If you have a mental health problem, they call it a stereotype word.
02:47 It's a crazy word.
02:48 So any kind of mental health problem, the word is already crazy.
02:54 That's what we want to break.
02:55 And that's why we included the riders because during the pandemic, they're the ones who
03:00 are outside, the weather, the hunger, the tiredness.
03:03 There are many factors that affect.
03:06 So what did you learn about the job of a delivery rider while creating this game?
03:11 We wanted to show our sympathy, which is what we felt while we were working on our research
03:20 paper.
03:21 Through news, through articles, through fake bookings, there were news that a child ordered
03:30 a 40+ rider.
03:31 Yes, the pandemic.
03:32 So there were many factors that were so simple, but they were big factors for the riders.
03:42 Was there a specific service or rider that you modeled after this game?
03:47 No, there wasn't.
03:49 You studied all kinds.
03:50 Yes.
03:51 So the game is still in beta version?
03:55 Yes.
03:56 Do you plan on continuing it in the future?
03:59 When we developed it, we wanted to release it fully.
04:09 But now, we're working on it.
04:13 We thought that it would take more time to complete it.
04:18 Yes, during the pandemic.
04:19 So that's why, when we're working on it, it's more...
04:22 How long did you work on the game?
04:24 Six months.
04:25 Six months.
04:26 We worked on the research paper at the same time.
04:29 Okay.
04:30 And now, are you still working on it?
04:31 Or not so much?
04:32 Because you're busy?
04:33 No, but they can wait for us.
04:36 We have a thought that we want to continue or jump to another game.
04:42 Where can people play or download the game for now?
04:46 It's available on our Facebook page.
04:49 The link is there.
04:51 It's free.
04:52 You can download it.
04:53 And very quickly, what do you hope the players will gain from the game?
04:58 They will enjoy it.
04:59 It's scary.
05:00 But at the same time, they will put their empathy through riders.
05:05 And also, they won't be aware.
05:08 It's just simple.
05:09 They can show their mental health awareness.
05:12 In terms of gameplay, they can feel the Filipino vibes in the game.
05:19 So, they will enjoy the game.
05:23 That's great.
05:24 And I hope you do continue this.
05:27 It sounds like a great game and I'm excited to try it out for myself.
05:31 Thank you, John Rhys and Edrich, game developers of LIGAO.
05:34 Thank you John Reason, Ed Rich, Game Developers of Legao.
