Mother recalls moment she found Lucy Letby standing over newborn’s cot seconds before ‘all hell broke loose’

A mother has spoken of the moment she found killer nurse Lucy Letby standing over her newborn’s cot just seconds before “all hell broke loose”.  Vicky Whitfield and husband Mike, believe their daughter Felicity, could be one of Letby’s first victims.  Vicky said it was her “mother’s instinct” which made her go and check on Felicity at 3am one morning while on the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester hospital in 2013.  She said: “As I was walking towards the cot, Lucy was standing over it. She just looked up at me and walked away. I sat down and within seconds beepers started going off and all hell broke loose.”  Felicity suffered a collapsed lung but thankfully survived.

00:03 like a mother's instinct to go downstairs to see her.

00:06 She was doing fine the days before.

00:07 She was breathing for herself when she was first born.

00:10 She had a little bit of a CPAP just to help her,

00:13 but she was breathing fine for herself

00:15 and she was doing great.

00:15 So much so that the night before,

00:18 who Mike believes was Lucy Letby,

00:21 told him to go home and get some rest

00:22 'cause he looked tired.

00:23 Three o'clock in the morning,

00:27 I just had an urge to go down.

00:28 I went downstairs, I sat by the cot.

00:30 But as I was walking towards the cot,

00:34 Lucy was standing over the cot.

00:37 She just looked up at me and then walked away

00:40 and then I walked towards the cot.

00:42 I sat down and within seconds,

00:47 all the beepers started going off

00:48 and all hell broke loose.
