00:26 >> Well, hello people of Maui.
00:30 Shown such absolute incredible courage.
00:33 That's not hyperbole.
00:34 I want you to know on behalf of the United States of America,
00:39 all the nation, American people stand with you.
00:42 To my left is the banyan tree, beloved by this community
00:47 for over 150 years.
00:49 Here in the former capital of the kingdom, Hawaii,
00:52 that has stood for generations as a sacred spot,
00:56 of exceptional significance.
00:58 One of the people who took me under his wing when I first got
01:00 to the center was Danny Inouye.
01:02 He used to talk about, he used to talk
01:04 about the kingdom of Hawaii.
01:06 He was, came from Japan, but it was amazing to listen to him.
01:10 Today, it's burned, but it's still standing.
01:14 The tree survived for a reason.
01:17 I believe it's a powerful, a very powerful symbol
01:20 of what we can and will do to get through this crisis.
01:24 And for this, for as long as it takes, we're going to be
01:27 with you, the whole country will be with you.
01:29 You know, we will be respectful of the sacred grounds
01:34 and the traditions that rebuild the way the people
01:37 of Maui want it built, not the way others want it built.
