00:59 A chance to sit in the cockpit and to savor the result of months of diplomatic pressure. The U.S. giving the green light for allies to help Ukraine recover control of its skies.
01:10 It won`t be an overnight solution. Ukrainian pilots may not be at the controls until Christmas.
01:15 But with the Dutch also offering 42 of the jets, there`s fresh hope for victory.
01:20 I want to be faster, that planes can speed up this process very much, that Russian Federation dominates in the sky, and that we don`t limit ourselves to planes, we talk about air defense, because winter is ahead.
01:40 As the counteroffensive continues on the ground, Ukraine`s pilots, engineers and support crews are all training to work in and around the F-16s they`ll be receiving.

04:30 - The good news is indeed that as of today,
04:50 the storage is at 89.89%,
04:56 which is indeed excellent news.
04:59 Member states see and understand that it's extremely
05:02 important to stick to the obligation to refill
05:05 our gas storage facilities.
05:07 And this is an ongoing process
05:10 and we are very much on track there.

06:13 - Russia's Lunar 25 spacecraft has crashed into the moon,
06:27 the country's space agency said on Sunday,
06:29 after spinning into uncontrolled orbit.
06:32 Roscosmos said it lost contact with the probe on Saturday
06:36 after it ran into trouble while preparing
06:38 for its pre-landing orbit.
06:40 Lunar 25 was scheduled to land on the South Pole
06:43 of the moon on Monday,
06:44 racing to reach the surface ahead of an Indian spacecraft.
06:49 The unmanned robot lander is the first launched by Russia
06:52 since 1976, when it was part of the Soviet Union.
06:56 - At least three people in Romania have died
07:01 from the West Nile virus.
07:02 An illness spread by mosquitoes,
07:04 for which there's no vaccine or antiviral treatment.
07:07 More than 10% of the country's mosquitoes carry the virus,
07:11 according to a recent study.
07:12 Eight out of 10 people infected with the virus
07:15 will show no symptoms,
07:16 but in rare cases, it can cause a serious infection
07:20 of the nervous system,
07:21 leading to paralysis, convulsions, or loss of vision.
07:24 Vulnerable people are advised to cover their body
07:27 while outside to avoid being bitten
07:29 and to use anti-mosquito sprays.

07:34 - Argentina suffered a political earthquake
07:37 and the response of the markets has been clear.
07:40 Prices have jumped 30% in the two days
07:42 following the victory of the anti-establishment populist,
07:45 Javier Mille, in last Sunday's primaries.
07:48 And the peso plunged by 18%.
07:53 - The question is whether he or anyone
07:55 can really correct the economy in Argentina,
07:59 is it's going to be tough.
08:00 There are a few bright spots, which I'll talk about,
08:02 but these are structural issues.
08:04 For example, public spending represents 40%
08:07 of the country's GDP.
08:09 That means that if we're going to address the debt problem,
08:13 the issue of inflation and the tendency of the central bank
08:16 to print currency,
08:18 it's going to have to cut dramatically subsidies.
08:21 - In a country struggling with annual inflation
08:24 of over 100%, growing poverty
08:26 and a rapidly depreciating currency,
08:28 the vote has been a response to anger
08:31 against the political class.
08:32 But does it really represent
08:34 an ideological shift in Argentina?
08:36 - I don't think so much that Mille's surprise victory
08:42 in the primaries really represents a wholesale shift
08:47 within the Argentine electorate towards the right
08:49 and towards this sort of view of libertarian,
08:52 you know, almost calls himself an anarcho-libertarian
08:55 of sort of a much reduced state
08:59 reflects core popular values in Argentina.
09:02 I think Argentina remains very much a center left country
09:06 in its orientation.
09:07 - The corruption and lack of renewal of the political class
09:13 has had consequences throughout the region.
09:15 We've seen them in the United States, Brazil,
09:17 and much of Latin America.
09:19 Faced with their sense of insecurity,
09:22 people are looking for extreme alternatives.
09:25 - There is a sense that there's been no political renovation
09:29 that politicians are unaccountable,
09:31 but also the sense of profound economic insecurity
09:34 that's driving this.
09:35 In surveys done in Latin America by Vanderbilt University,
09:39 more than 80% of respondents believe that half or more
09:43 of their politicians were corrupt.
09:45 When people don't trust their politicians,
09:47 when they don't trust their institutions,
09:48 they look for extreme answers outside the system.
09:51 (air whooshing)
09:53 - Spain produced a stunning performance
09:56 to clinch their first Women's World Cup title on Sunday
09:59 with a 1-0 win over England.
10:01 Olga Carmona's superb finish in the 29th minute
10:04 proved to be the difference between the two sides
10:06 as La Roja made history.
10:08 The Lionesses, who were bidding
10:09 to bring a World Cup trophy back to England
10:11 for the first time since 1966,
10:14 pushed in the dying minutes, but it wasn't to be.
10:17 Spain are the fifth winners in nine editions
10:19 of the Women's World Cup.
10:20 Sam Aschew was there.
10:22 - Well, it'll go down as one of sports'
10:24 most remarkable achievements.
10:25 The majority of this Spanish squad
10:27 were on strike 11 months ago.
10:28 Now they're champions of the world.
10:30 At 23 years old, Olga Carmona became the youngest player
10:33 since 2011 to score in a FIFA Women's World Cup final.
10:36 She is the history maker.
10:38 This La Roja side are the record breakers.
10:40 It brings to an end a fine tournament here
10:42 in Australia and New Zealand.
10:43 Sam Aschew for Euronews in Sydney.
10:45 (air whooshing)
10:48 (speaking in foreign language)
10:51 - It was meant to be a trial run for the 2024 Paris Olympics,
10:54 but pollution concerns meant the plug had to be pulled
10:57 on an open water swim in the Seine on Sunday.
11:00 Although competitors had swum in the river
11:02 earlier in the week, the latest water quality tests
11:05 gave organizers no choice.
11:07 (speaking in foreign language)
11:12 (speaking in foreign language)
11:16 - Paris isn't the first Olympic Games
11:28 to face pollution concerns over open water swims.
11:32 Tokyo and Rio had similar problems.
11:35 However, since triathlon was introduced
11:37 as an Olympic sport in Sydney in 2000,
11:40 no Olympic triathlon has ever had to convert to a biathlon.
11:44 (air whooshing)
