00:00 Well, first of all, congratulations to all students that got their results yesterday.
00:03 I want to thank our teachers and school support staff for their tremendous hard work in getting
00:08 young people to where they were yesterday.
00:11 They faced significant challenges and so many hurdles in their way, with a government that
00:16 said that they'd maxed out support for children, that didn't take action to address the industrial
00:22 action and a failed tutoring programme.
00:25 And what we saw yesterday were unequal results across the country, with almost 40% of young
00:31 people in London and the South East getting the top grades, but in other parts of the
00:35 country children really missing out on those top grades.
00:38 And I think what we've seen is a managed decline from this government on education standards,
00:43 where young people across the country are missing out on the top grades.
