00:00 I walked out there the other night and there were 18,000 spectators.
00:07 But the big thing was there was no money.
00:11 So everyone back in the day had a job to support themselves.
00:15 And when it came to tournament time, we needed to raise the money to get to tournaments because there was no money.
00:24 And we also borrowed our national team strips from usually the boys teams.
00:31 So your number was determined by what size fit you.
00:34 There were a lot of different ways that we attempted fundraising.
00:38 One of the more popular ways was to bake cakes.
00:43 And then thousands of cakes, lamingtons in Australian.
00:48 And then try to sell them to raise money to go to tournaments or to go to events.
00:54 The other way was through car washes. There was a lot of cars we washed.
00:58 And my mum was such an inventive person when it came to getting money together and raising funds.
01:08 So we had casino nights being run out of our garage.
01:12 And we had Melbourne Cup trifecta raffles and all manner of attempts at fundraising just to get the money to travel abroad.
01:22 It wasn't an option for women to be footballers because there were no women footballers that we knew of.
01:28 And what we saw on TV was male players in the EPL.
01:33 And my role model was Glenn Modry from Tottenham Hotspur.
01:38 I always wanted to be like him because it just speaks about the time we were in where there was no female visibility.
01:45 So when people ask me who was your favourite female player, I have to answer well there weren't any that I could see at the time.
