00:00 It's Benzinga and here's what's on the block.
00:02 Binance, a cryptocurrency exchange, has filed for a protective court order against the U.S.
00:07 Securities and Exchange Commission due to what it deems as overly broad and burdensome
00:12 information requests.
00:13 Binance's operating company, BAM Trading, along with BAM Management, contends that they
00:18 have already provided sufficient information to the regulator.
00:22 The protective order being sought aims to restrict the SEC's actions, including limiting
00:26 the number of depositions to four from BAM employees and excluding the CEO and CFO from
00:31 being deposed.
00:33 The court filing mentions that the SEC has not yet provided evidence of customer asset
00:37 misuse or dissipation.
00:38 The SEC, however, has opposed BAM's proposed limitations and it motions for a protective
00:44 order.
00:45 In June, the SEC had sued Binance and its CEO for alleged deceptive practices and various
00:50 charges related to trading volume manipulation, fund diversion, failure to restrict U.S. customers
00:55 and misleading investors about market surveillance.
