Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Day 8: Defense Roars Through the Third Day of Padded Practice

And just when everyone thought the offense was getting away with a little bit too much here at training camp that Dallas defense that everyone knows and loves had a phenomenal third day in pads.
The offense has been killing this training camp and has been the talk of the town so far but today everyone is drumming a new beat. Multiple DB’s had interceptions today; Nahshon Wright recorded his second interception of the camp, Trevon Diggs had an interception on a dead play. It was a free-play situation that had Prescott looking for a big play after Micah Parsons jumped offsides so Diggs interception technically doesn’t count. But Stephon Gilmore got in on the action with his first pick of camp.
The interior defensive line looked incredible today as well, in particular Johnathan Hankins and rookie first round draft pick Mazi Smith. D210SPORTS got to speak with LB Damone Clark after practice and he talked about his new teammate. Clark stated that Smith is very strong and he does a great job blocking.
“I love Mazi.” Clark said.
Smith talked to us earlier in camp and stated he’s ready to go. He said, “I don’t even like football, I just like hitting people.”
LB Micah Parsons had another great day but in his defense he has great days everyday. He’s looking even faster than last year (if that’s even possible) and is giving that O-line a run for their money. He has “sacked” Prescott multiple times this camp and even hit him on accident in one of the 7-on-7 drills.

The duo that Dallas has in that secondary with Diggs and Gilmore is scary and it’s going to cause lots of problems for opposing teams this year. Diggs and Prescott have gotten into it a few times here at camp. With the padded practices comes the trash talk that the players have with one another because when you bring on the pads you bring on the competition.
A video surfaced social media a few days ago regarding Diggs and Prescott exchanging some trash talking moments when playing 7-on-7. Diggs had some words to say for Prescott and they were not very nice to the public ear. We asked Prescott after practice how he felt about the trash talking.
“I encourage it.” Prescott told reporters. He told us that trash talking is probably his favorite thing to do during training camp. He explained that trash talking brings the passion out in practice and he knows what players to trash talk to get them to perform at their highest level.
He explained growing up and being the youngest with two older brothers it’s something he grew up doing because he has been very competitive his whole life.
Twitter took the video in a different way and expressed that Diggs doesn’t respect his QB if he is talking to him like that.
Prescott answered, “There’s ways to cut deep, but what was said in that video, that’s actually a sign of a healthy relationship. We believe in each other and are trying to make each other better. I might honestly talk the most a
