00:07Nick we're in week one oh my goodness about time right isn't it doesn't it feel good to be back
00:13here in Dallas versus in Oxnard or maybe not well I don't know when it's 30 degrees different yeah
00:19no kidding it's pretty sweet yep and it's uh starting to get humid here but it's okay guess
00:23what we're in the month of September it's fall and it's week one of the NFL season the Cowboys
00:28are opening up the season against the Giants is this just the right squad to be playing against
00:35for the first game of the season if you're the Cowboys do you think it's only fitting it's
00:40fitting I don't know if it's the right squad I'd rather be playing East Carolina not a team that
00:47I struggled against last year yeah and has gotten better and has a new head coach now you hope you
00:54got better uh meaning the Cowboys so uh yeah you just play who they tell you to play so it
01:01doesn't
01:01matter uh really who it is uh sometimes it matters where it is because now uh they're going to start
01:08on this streak in the first seven games of playing all these night games uh night games on the coast
01:15uh going to Rio de Janeiro uh all these games where you're going to get back from these night games
01:22between three and five o'clock in the morning uh that's that'll that'll wear out a team from a
01:28physical standpoint yeah let's talk about John Harbaugh now he's no longer with the Ravens it's
01:34weird because my whole life I've known him as Baltimore absolutely but now he's with the Giants
01:40how much of I guess do you think it's going to be a Ravens 2.0 or or do you
01:46how do you see them
01:47being different well I don't know if it's different I think we know John Harbaugh's history uh he likes
01:54a physical team uh he likes to run the football and I'll guarantee you that's the way he's building
02:00this Giants team uh so the Cowboys better saddle up they're going to run right at them I'll guarantee
02:07you and they better be able to stop the run if they're going to improve defensively and last year
02:13if you remember one of the problems this defense had of many problems was stopping the run 12 of 17
02:20opponents uh rushed for more than 100 yards uh and I'm sure the Giants saw that but this is a
02:28different team with different personnel with a different uh defensive coaching staff so I'm
02:34interested to see if there is improvement and how much do you think Malik Neighbors and Cam
02:40Scadaboo if they play what kind of problems are they going to pose for a defensive coordinator
02:45same problems that Javante Williams the C.D. Lamb and George Pickens will present uh the the Giants so
02:53yeah everybody's got guys like that uh Jackson Dart second year quarterback he should be better
03:00uh Scadaboo uh you know what I don't know that he's capable of running the ball 20-25 times a
03:07game
03:08but when he does run the ball he'll run very physically right we know that so everybody has
03:14a physical running back I don't know that they're that much difference than uh and what any other
03:20team would present the Cowboys okay Christian Parker now he's got a fun piece in the backfield
03:25it's going to be Caleb Downs how excited are you well debut I think the Cowboys are excited to have
03:31him
03:32and just look at he's basically going to be the nickel uh corner in the on the uh on the
03:39nickel
03:39defense right in the slot so um we've seen him play there during training camp during the scrimmages
03:48and he seems to be adapting well but look at it this way this year they've got the 11th pick
03:55in the
03:55draft as their slot corner last year and nothing against Reddy Stewart they had a first year
04:04undrafted rookie from the year before that was on a practice squad playing in the NFL for the first time
04:10so you got a figure from a talent standpoint they've got to have improved now we'll see how well he
04:18plays
04:19as a raw rookie this Tyler Smith injury how much of a wrench does that throw into things yes the
04:24first
04:24one they've had to face right no adversity in training camp uh preseason games offseason and this is the
04:33first adversity that they'll face losing probably the best guard in the NFL right uh three-time pro bowler
04:43uh pro all pro uh it's tough but fortunately they spent the money to keep TJ Bass on this roster
04:53he was a restricted free agent they tendered him at the second round draft choice level meaning you had
05:01to pay 5.7 million for him which is quite a bit for everybody to realize for a backup player
05:08but he was
05:09versatile he could back up at center he could back up at guard and that tells you what they think
05:15about
05:15him uh and so yeah uh he's done this before he started 10 games in the NFL uh so yeah
05:23he's not
05:23Tyler Smith but I think he can hold down the fort well enough till Tyler Smith gets back my goodness
05:29we'll have to see how that O-line holds up how the defense looks for this year's Cowboys squad
05:34and the Cowboys are taking on the Giants for Sunday Night Football in week one at Mickey Spagnuolo
