00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:08 On last night's Raw, which we'll have a review of here shortly with a very special
00:12 guest, an angle took place between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and the Judgment Day, where
00:16 JD appeared to injure KO, distracting Sami in his North American title match against
00:21 Dominik Mysterio.
00:22 Owens could be heard on the episode speculating that he's got a broken rib, but as it turns
00:26 out there might be a bit more to it than just story.
00:29 Wrestling on Twitter is reporting that this injury is actually genuine, and it's currently
00:33 unclear how long Owens will be out for, but that the injury was used to further this Judgment
00:38 Day angle.
00:39 This was also corroborated by Fightful.
00:42 Whether it's actually a broken rib or not is unknown as of the time of writing, but
00:45 whatever the injury is, we at WrestleTalk would like to wish KO the best in his recovery.
00:50 What this means for the tag titles is also unclear, whether the duo would need to relinquish
00:54 the belt or not, or how the story progresses from here.
00:56 We'll just have to stay tuned to find out.
00:58 But I really, sincerely hope it's nothing serious and we can get KO back on our screens
01:03 before long.
01:04 Moving along to LA Night News now, as Oli mentioned in yesterday's news episode, there
01:08 are potentially things lined up for Night following Summerslam.
01:10 But who knows how genuine that actually is considering that's something it seems like
01:14 has been in the works for months now.
01:15 Which then begs the question, after he lost the United States Invitational Facial 4-Way
01:19 on SmackDown, is Night actually going to be featured at Summerslam at all?
01:24 Reports from the Wrestling Observer state that Austin Theory's next United States
01:26 title match is set to be on SmackDown, not Summerslam, because Summerslam is considered
01:31 "full" with 9 matches.
01:34 You hear that Tony Khan?
01:35 9 matches!
01:36 So what does this mean for Night?
01:38 According to BWE on Twitter, WWE does have plans for Night at Summerslam, but it's
01:43 currently for a segment/angle, though those could change to a match potentially.
01:47 Which seems to be much of the same that's been talked about for a while now, with Night
01:50 being mostly around but not given much of substance.
01:54 Meanwhile over in AEW, there's been some interesting backstage news to come out.
01:58 Firstly, according to Fightful Select, Orange Cassidy has been expanding beyond just a wrestler,
02:02 and has begun being an agent/producer for AEW as well.
02:07 Which in case you don't know, involves being on a headset during matches, giving information
02:11 to ringside, informing TV production of planned spots so they can be in the right positions,
02:15 and go over the matches with the talent themselves.
02:18 Cassidy reportedly reduced the recent match of Big Bill and Brian Cage vs. Trent and Matt
02:22 Sydal, which has reportedly received praise backstage, as well as the match between Infantry
02:26 and The Kingdom.
02:27 However, while there's an Orange Cassidy, there could have potentially been a Bret Hart,
02:31 as Brian Solomon tweeted about interviewing Bret Hart for his book, and Hart mentioning
02:35 that he'd offered to agent for AEW, but AEW only had interest in bringing him in as
02:41 a manager, like Arn Anderson, Jake Roberts, Tully Blanchard, etc.
02:44 Which also didn't happen.
02:46 But now it's time we hand over to our special guest for an amazing, epic Raw review, because
02:51 Luke's away on holiday.
02:53 So here we go, amazing special guest, here we go!
02:59 It's me.
03:00 Sorry.
03:01 I need to make the lights red.
03:04 There you go.
03:07 Sorry.
03:08 Now it's time for my review of Raw, in about 5 minutes.
03:16 The show began with Judgment Day, minus Dirty Dom, who said they run all of WWE, and they
03:21 throw to a recap package of Dominik Mysterio winning the North American title, which is
03:25 still one of the best decisions they've made in recent memory.
03:27 I love it.
03:28 Dominik then throws to his own video package celebrating himself.
03:32 He's such a dick.
03:33 I love it.
03:34 They're interrupted by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, who say this segment is exactly the
03:38 same as last week.
03:39 Yes it is.
03:40 Sami says that Dom is being disrespected, but that's only because nobody respects
03:44 him.
03:45 A match is made between Sami Zayn and Dominik Mysterio for later in the night, and Rhea
03:48 accepts on Dom's behalf to put Dom's title on the line, which he doesn't seem all
03:53 too confident about.
03:54 Dissension in the Judgment Day?
03:56 Up next was Becky Lynch vs. Zoey Stark with a match against Trish Stratus at Summerslam
04:00 on the line, as well as Becky needing a tattoo saying "Thank you Trish" on her chest
04:04 if she loses.
04:05 Bit of a convoluted stip for this one, but alrighty.
04:08 This was really fun though.
04:09 Zoey more than held her own against Lynch, looked very comfortable being against one
04:13 of the top stars in the company, and despite some heavy, heavy interference from Stratus,
04:17 Lynch put Stark away with a manhandle slam.
04:19 Lynch vs. Stratus at Summerslam is on, and I'm excited for it.
04:22 After that we got a recap package of Cody Rhodes being attacked by Brock Lesnar, followed
04:26 by Cody coming out to the ring and saying that Brock made a mistake by leaving him breathing,
04:31 and at Summerslam he wants to embarrass Lesnar.
04:42 We still don't really know why Lesnar attacked Cody in April, and there still isn't a stipulation
04:46 announced for the match either.
04:47 There's still time I suppose.
04:48 But this was a good promo.
04:49 We then got a recap, seems like a trend on this show, of Ricochet vs. Loken Paul, and
04:53 Ricochet said he's waiting for Loken to show up so he can say some stuff to his face.
04:57 We then got the match of Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio, which was enjoyable enough for what
05:01 it was, but it was more about the finish, which as mentioned earlier in the news portion,
05:05 Solveria and Damien bring out KO out onto the ramp after presumably assaulting him backstage,
05:10 which distracted Sami, allowing Dom to get the roll-up win.
05:13 Backstage KO said he's got a broken rib, and once again, whatever injury he does have,
05:16 I hope he gets better soon.
05:18 After a recap package, hey, there's another one, of the awesome Bloodline segment from
05:21 Smackdown, Ricochet can't find Logan Paul backstage, and Tommaso Ciampa told Shinsuke
05:25 Nakamura he doesn't expect to see him ringside during his match with Reed coming up, so I
05:29 wonder if Shinsuke's gonna come out for the match.
05:33 He did.
05:34 Shocking.
05:35 The match was pretty fun though, and the crowd got into it by the end, but Shinsuke coming
05:38 out distracted Tommy C, allowing Reed to get the win with the Tsunami.
05:42 Good stuff.
05:43 There was also a backstage segment thrown in there of Apollo Crews getting in the face
05:46 of Damien Priest.
05:47 Because why not.
05:48 After a recap package, hey, I've lost count on how many there is now.
05:51 Liv Morgan was backstage and said she's got a problem with Rhea Ripley because she
05:54 injured Raquel Rodriguez, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville were upset they didn't get
05:58 interviewed, and Rhea said she's gonna beat up Liv.
06:01 Which she did.
06:02 Before the bell.
06:03 And then injured her arm by stamping on it in a chair.
06:06 Rhea Ripley is very cool.
06:08 After a recap, hey, it's another one.
06:10 In so many of the Viking Rules match, Maxine Dupree said she's going one on one with
06:14 Val Haller next week in her first ever singles match.
06:17 I'm looking forward to it, and more than that, I'm sure Luke is going to adore it
06:20 when he's back next week.
06:22 After that, Ricochet came out to the ring and called out Logan Paul again, saying he
06:25 doesn't belong here, and called him an arrogant little prick.
06:28 Scathing.
06:29 Logan attacked Ricochet from behind and accepted his match for Summerslam, but Ricochet stood
06:34 tall after Logan got too arrogant calling out the crowd and telling people they need
06:37 to get laid because the virgins.
06:39 This was solid.
06:40 Shayna Baszler backstage said she's sick of hearing Ronda Rousey's name, and at Summerslam
06:43 she's going to beat her in a way she understands.
06:45 At Summerslam, she's going to fight Ronda Rousey.
06:49 Fight pit?
06:50 Maybe?
06:51 Submission match?
06:52 Damian Priest beat Apollo Crews quickly.
06:53 Would you look at that?
06:54 A Money in the Bank winner actually winning matches.
06:57 Crazy.
06:58 Gunther and Drew McIntyre had a face-to-face next, which was a pretty great promo and got
07:01 me pumped for the match at Summerslam.
07:03 Drew then challenged Ludwig Kaiser, and I liked that Ludwig didn't back down or look
07:06 scared, he just wanted a fight.
07:08 Drew of course won the match, but it was pretty good.
07:10 And look, Corey, you doing commentary as Ludwig Kaiser was funny.
07:14 For like, a few seconds.
07:17 In a post-match beatdown, Matt Riddle came out for the save, didn't save Drew, and
07:20 then Drew stood tall anyway and powerbombed Gunther through the commentary table.
07:24 Thanks for coming, Riddle.
07:25 Ronda Rousey accepted Baszler's challenge for a fight backstage.
07:28 Sorry, not a fight.
07:29 The fight as she called it.
07:31 The final segment of the show was the contract signing between Rollins and Balor for Summerslam.
07:35 Where Rollins came out and signed the contract, Balor hesitated, and Rollins took advantage
07:39 of that by doing a promo, saying that even if, somehow, someway, Balor wins at Summerslam,
07:45 Priest is going to cash in on Balor anyway, and he knows that because Balor would do the
07:49 same thing to him.
07:50 It won't be the coronation of the Judgment Day, it's going to be its end.
07:55 While Balor responded saying that Rollins was the cause of his downfall 7 years ago,
07:59 the rest of the Judgment Day swarmed outside the ring, which was a really cool visual.
08:03 Balor was looking like he was going to cash in after attacking Rollins, but before he
08:07 could, Sami Zayn came out for the save.
08:09 He was ineffective ultimately, as JD stood tall to close the show, after a very good
08:13 beatdown angle.
08:14 Honestly, this was a perfectly fine episode of Raw.
08:17 There was nothing overly special or amazing, but nothing was really bad.
08:21 Everything was pretty good, and it overall made me more excited for Summerslam, which
08:24 is good.
08:25 This week's Raw gets a solid 3 out of 5.
08:27 Now if you haven't yet, check out Sunday's video where we talk about 5 reasons why Jey
08:31 Uso should dethrone Roman Reigns, and 5 reasons why he shouldn't.
08:35 I'm quite proud of this video, it's like a debate with one person.
08:38 I think it's great.
08:39 Here's a clip.
08:40 But who knows how genuine that is, considering that's something that seems to have been
08:43 in the works for months now.
08:45 But who knows how genuine that actually is, considering that's something that seems
08:48 to have been in the wor- F***.
