The Welsh government have ruled out the possibility of bidding the host the 2026 commonwealth games after hosts Victoria in Australia pulled out. Despite calls from opposition to bid, the Welsh government said budget constraints from the UK government mean they will not be able to host the event.

Mark Drakeford has said he opposes the UK Labour policy of a 2 child benefit cap. The Westminster party leader Sir Kier Starmer faced backlash this week for saying he still believes in the policy, as opposition parties in Wales call on the first Minister to call on Starmer to reconsider his stance.

Cardiff Councillors have expressed their disappointment of the state of Guildford crescent, which was once home to Gw di Hw bar and other restaurants. The council approved plans for a 30 story apartment block in 2021, but no progress has since been made. Developers say work will begin in the near future.
