Watch this grandmother's eyes light up in absolute shock as she gets surprise visit from her sister

A poorly grandmother was elated to see her younger sister during a surprise visit to her nursing home - after she travelled over 1,000 miles to see her.

Donna Martin, 76, was awaiting a visit from her granddaughter, but was over the moon when her sister Charlene Williams turn up out of the blue.

She smiles and greets her granddaughter Angelyca, 24, but her face lit up with shock and joy as Charlene, 68, walked in behind her.

Donna, who suffers from post-polio syndrome, resides in a care home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

The sisters, who speak every day on Zoom when studying the Bible, hadn't seen one another in person for two years.

So when Charlene made the mammoth journey from Louisville, Kentucky, to Florida, the excitement was palpable.

Angelyca revealed she had told her aunt Charlene about her own plans to visit her grandmother in Florida.

She said: "We started talking about Nana and I asked Charlene if she wanted to join.

"My nana didn’t know about me coming to visit as I usually don’t tell her. I like to surprise her.

"So I spoke with my dad. I asked if we could have Aunt Charlene come with and he said yes, and we started planning it from there."

Charlene and Angelyca made the trip down to Florida, and were both so excited to see Donna that they went straight to the nursing home from the airport.

Angelyca added: "It felt almost nostalgic to see them together again.

"I know what it’s like to be away from my sister, and when I have her by my side I feel like a little kid."
